Veteran Woodchuckers along with new volunteers prepared firewood for next heating season and cleaned up the community wood bank. Yesterday evening, StGCDC board, staff, and volunteers gathered to celebrate and say goodbye to the amazing Amelia who served as our Community Cupboard Manager. She's headed to graduate school to continue her career as a gifted artist. We presented Amelia with a beautiful cutting board made by commercial lobsterman and woodworker Kurt Winters. The back of the cutting board was engraved at the GRACE Innovation Center by Makerspace Dir. Paul Meinersmann with a special message thanking Amelia for all she's done for our community.

We want to thank First National Bank for their generous support of the StGCDC Community Cupboard through their Dream First Community program! Despite the rain and cold, there were plenty of smiles, joy, and gratitude in the Cupboard this morning among staff and volunteers - as you can see in the picture! Thank you First National Bank!!

Each time a First National Bank (FNB) customer swipes their debit card at a Dream First Community (DFC) merchant, FNB takes a portion of that interchange and gives it back to our community through annual donations to local food pantries. Additionally, every other month FNB draws DFC customer names at random and those selected get a $100 gift card to the DFC merchants of their choice. This program encourages shopping local & helps fight food insecurity!

The StGCDC was proud to receive a Common Good Grant through the McKeen Center at Bowdoin College that will support our Heating Assistance Program, which helps keep St. George residents safe and warm in their homes. Programs Director Britta McCollom represented the StGCDC at the awards ceremony and shared our work and mission.

On behalf of the entire StGCDC, we want to thank the McKeen Center and Bowdoin College for supporting our mission to foster a thriving and livable community for ALL St. George residents!
