Local mystery fans and aspiring writers have a special opportunity to meet a master of suspense next week!

On Thursday, August 13th from 5-7pm at the St. George Town Office in Tenants Harbor, internationally best-selling author Tess Gerritsen will pull back the curtain on her creative process, sharing how she transforms spark-of-an-idea concepts into gripping, page-turning thrillers.

Because of Gerritsen's popularity, people interested in attending are encouraged to reserve their spots by calling the library immediately at 207-372-8961. On the day of the event, seats not claimed by 4:50pm will be opened up to walk-ins.

See you this FRIDAY AUG 7 5:00-7:00PM for the opening of Different Shores, featuring the semi-abstract, symbolic landscapes of Maine artist Joanne Tarlin.

“Like the social world in which we live, nature presents our strengths, oddities and failures in full display," explains Tarlin. "Towers of granite, twisted thickets, crumbling shores, potential underfoot and powerful storms. This confluence of human qualities, attributes, and imagery from Maine is what I paint…”

Light refreshments will be served. The show will be on display at the library through August 30th.

Join us next Friday, August 7th from 5:00 to 7:00pm for the opening reception for our August show "Different Shores," featuring the paintings of Maine artist Joanne Tarlin.

Through the medium of oil paints, Tarlin uses color and composition to emulate a feeling or stimulate a recollection of a place.

The 2026 Annual Meeting of Members of the Jackson Memorial Library will be held on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, beginning at 5:15pm.

All adult library card holders are encouraged to attend!

The meeting will be held in person with a hybrid Zoom option. Members who wish to attend via Zoom must register with the library not later than 5:00pm Monday, August 17th.
