Find It Friday: Public Art Bike Racks! 🚲

Did you know some of Truckee’s bike racks are also works of art?

In 2014, the Truckee Public Arts Commission (TPAC), a local group operating under Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District invited the community to design sculptural bike racks as part of one of their themed art shows. Local professional artists and a few classes of elementary school students submitted creative designs that celebrate Truckee’s culture and creativity. Six art-focused bike racks were chosen and installed around town.

Keep an eye out for these unique racks around Truckee:
-Uplifted
-El Dragon
-The Feather
-Animal Tracks
-High Iron
-DeRailed

If you are biking through town this month, see if you can find one of these artistic racks. If it is new to you, mark your Bike Month Bingo Card!

During an evacuation, every minute matters.

That’s why Truckee is taking a closer look at how our community would currently evacuate during a wildfire or other emergency, and what could make that process safer and easier. We want to hear from the people who know Truckee best: residents, workers, and frequent visitors. Where could evacuation be challenging? What suggestions do you have? What would help you feel more prepared?

Share your feedback on the interactive map and community survey, and follow the Comprehensive Large-Scale Evacuation Study at www.townoftruckee.gov/EvacuationStudy.
