NROTC University of Arizona Marine Platoon | M-SULT
A strong foundation starts with the fundamentals.
This morning, NROTC University of Arizona Marine Platoon began M-SULT training, focusing on individual actions, hand-and-arm signals, squad tactics, and tactical decision-making.
Training is led by senior Midshipmen and Marines, who lead, guide, mentor, and train the next generation of Marines while continuing the mentorship passed down by those before them. Through classroom instruction, quizzes, practical exercises, and hands-on applications, Midshipmen develop professionalism, discipline, communication, teamwork, and attention to detail both inside and outside the classroom.
Today sets the foundation for building confident leaders and a cohesive team. Learn the fundamentals. Apply the standard. Build the team.

FOREX | Foreign Exchange Program

Happy Wednesday Battalion, Friends, and Family!
This summer, University of Arizona NROTC Midshipmen participated in the Navy’s Foreign Exchange (FOREX) program, an opportunity designed to provide Midshipmen with firsthand exposure to foreign naval forces, international maritime operations, and allied partnerships. During FOREX, Midshipmen travel overseas and engage with partner-nation naval personnel, gaining insight into their training, customs, operations, and maritime capabilities. The experience allows participants to better understand the importance of interoperability, communication, and professional relationships between the United States Navy and its international partners. Programs such as FOREX contribute to the development of well-rounded future Naval Officers by combining operational exposure, cultural exchange, travel, and professional education.

This week, the new 4/C Midshipmen participated in the unit’s annual New Student Orientation (NSO)! NSO is an accumulation of PT’s, general military knowledge, inspections, and different classes to familiarize them to our unit!

Happy Thursday, Battalion, Family, and Friends!
University of Arizona Midshipmen had the opportunity to travel and embark on a submarine cruise, gaining firsthand exposure to submarine operations, technology, shipboard life, and the teamwork required to operate beneath the surface. Experiences like this give future Naval Officers the opportunity to explore different Navy communities, learn directly from Sailors, build professional connections, and gain a broader understanding of the fleet and life at sea all while traveling and experiencing the Navy beyond the classroom. 🇺🇸🌊

Officer Candidates School
Oorah Battalion, Family and Friends!
This summer, MIDN 1/C Luther, MIDN 1/C Chavez, and MIDN 1/C Baker took on the demanding challenge of Officer Candidates School (OCS) as Marine Option Midshipmen earning their title as Marines. OCS serves as a rigorous assessment and leadership development environment,
challenging candidates through demanding physical training, field exercises, leadership evaluations, and academically and mentally demanding events. Their time at OCS reflects the
discipline, resilience, leadership, and commitment required of those pursuing a commission as Marine Corps Officers. Their performance throughout the program represents the continued
development of future leaders within the University of Arizona NROTC Battalion. Congratulations to our newly titled Marines!

☀️ SWO Cruise Recap! ☀️
This summer, our University of Arizona NROTC Midshipmen have been making the most of their training through Surface Warfare Officer (SWO) cruises and other summer training opportunities! Throughout their cruises, our Midshipmen gained valuable hands-on experience, explored life aboard Navy ships, and gained insight into the responsibilities and leadership expected of future Naval Officers. From learning about shipboard operations to building connections with Sailors and fellow Midshipmen, these experiences provided opportunities to learn, grow, and lead. Here’s a look at what they’ve been up to!

Happy 1/C Friday, Battalion, family, and friends!

This week we are proud to honor MIDN 1/C Pait! She is receiving a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and a Minor in Military Science and Leadership. She will be reporting to Charleston, South Carolina as a Submarine Officer following graduation.

Her favorite memories from the unit are going underway for a couple days on the USS Kentucky for her 2/C cruise. “That was when I determined this was the path I wanted to take.”

Advice she’d like to share: “Always show up and always give your best effort.”

This week we are proud to honor MIDN 1/C Obregon! He is majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Military Science and Leadership. He will be reporting to Pensacola, Florida following graduation as a Student Naval Aviator.
Some of his favorite memories in the unit was his 1/C aviation cruise and being able to meet the best people, who will stick by you no matter what.
Advice he’d like to share: “Be a good dude.”

This week we are proud to honor MIDN 1/C Lujan! He is receiving a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Minor in Naval Science. He will be reporting to the USS Chafee (DDG-90) in San Diego, California, following graduation.

His favorite memory from the unit was standing under instruction watch on the USS Essex and hanging out with ROTC buddies.

Advice he’d like to share: “Look after those around you and they’ll look after you.”
