The Center will be closed on Monday, September 7, to honor the Labor Day holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday, September 8 at 8:00 am.

Thank you to everyone who donated to our Back-to-School Drive! We gave out over 200 backpacks filled with school supplies to our refugee families—from kindergarten through college. We’re beyond thrilled that this was made possible through everyone’s generosity and support.

We’re still accepting school supply donations throughout the rest of the year, so please consider donating. Thank you all for your continued generosity! Our students are ready to start the school year with confidence! 😊📚🎒

We’d also like to give a special shout-out to our amazing volunteers who helped pack and organize the backpacks. We’re truly grateful for their time and assistance!

The Center was happy to host TakeOne workshops for refugee youth in Utica over the past seven weeks. Amanda from Colgate University led the class, introducing students to the fundamentals of filmmaking, including visual storytelling, scriptwriting, storyboarding, basic cinematography, sound, and editing.

Throughout the seven weeks, the students worked hard to create their own films. At the end of the final week, they enjoyed a screening of their films with friends and family.

Thank you Amanda for teaching our youth! Congratulations to all the students! They did a wonderful job creating their own unique films. 🎬

Some of the students are part of the MAC Program, which is tailored to youth ages 15–24 who have been in the U.S. for five years or less. If you know a young person who would like to join, please contact Zaid at [email protected] for more details.
