Public Notice: This evening, a burn permit is in effect for a Norton’s Point property to burn grass, weather permitting. Residents of Sands Cove, Harbor Hill, Carvers Harbor, Indian Creek, and Lanes Island should be aware that the burn will be visible from these areas.

Due to the heavy winds predicted for today, Santa will be visiting children at the Fire Station instead of the Town parking lot. Visiting hours are 2-4 pm. We look forward to seeing everyone this afternoon!!

The Vinalhaven Firefighters Association wish to thank our island lobster companies (Fox Island Lobster Co., Linda Beans Lobster, and The Vinalhaven Fishermans Coop), all the boats that donated lobsters, Beths Farm Market and The Islands Closet for the corn, Fishermans Friend for the chips, VinalEnergy for the propane, the Lions club for the corn cooker, and Cait Clapham for the butter. Thank you to all of those who patiently waited, in line, for their dinner orders to be filled. With your outpouring of support, we thankfully met our fundraising goals!

Please consider supporting the Vinalhaven Firefighters Association. The money raised is not only used to support our scholarship program but also to purchase equipment and other vital items that help us do our jobs efficiently and safely. Without the generosity of donors, these items would be purchased solely with your property tax dollars.

The Vinalhaven FD would like to thank the boys from North Haven FD, for the mutual aid and equipment this afternoon/evening. You fellas were ready to roll, the second your feet hit the ground. The joint training sessions that we have had over the years, paid off today. We play well together. Thanks for having our backs, and know that we also have yours.

Good afternoon everyone. Just wanted to let everyone know that we have a slow drain on the water tower. If you are on town water please check your basements to make sure you don’t have a break. Just because water can reach your sink doesn’t mean you don’t have a leak.
