The Great Give Back is nearly upon us! Wallkill Public Library will once again be participating, and we'd like to ask you for your support for our community initiatives!

First, we'll be taking part in the Ulster County Food Fight, but this year there's a new twist! Not only will we be competing with the Ulster County Libraries to see who can collect the most nonperishable food donations and hygiene products, but we'll be competing with the Dutchess County Libraries too! If you're able, please help us with your contributions. All donations collected at the Wallkill Public Library will go to the Wallkill Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry! We accept these donations year-round, but if you want your donations to count for the Food Fight please bring them by between September 2 and October 17.

We'll also still be recycling batteries and continuing our CLYNK bag recycling programs as part of the Great Give Back too! So, please feel free to drop off your recyclable batteries in our battery box, and pick up your CLYNK bags for deposit bottles and cans at the library!

Last Monday we explored and had fun with clay for the second part of our Mother Earth Mondays: Clay program. We really enjoyed literally unearthing some stories with earth during this year's Summer Reading Program! Thanks to everyone who came out to join Ms. Christine for Mother Earth Mondays!

This past Workshop Wednesday we explored a lesson in Kintsugi, the traditional Japanese art of repairing and highlighting flaws in pottery! Ms. Christine also talked a bit about its history. Participants got to take perfectly good pots, crack them and then reconstruct them into something unique and beautiful.

Yesterday was our Summer Reading Program Finale & Ice Cream Social! We were proud to host Magician Conrad Cologne, and his fantastic Dig Into Magic show. Thanks, Conrad, the kids had a great time.

Then to finish it all off in style Stewart's Shops generously donated two ice cream kits to help us celebrate the finale with an ice cream social. What's not to like about that?! Great magic and the magic of ice cream.
