The staff at the Wallkill Public Library would like to thank the The Friends of the Wallkill Public Library for their continuing support of our mission through their tireless fundraising on our behalf. The Friends most recent $850 contribution to the library will go a long way to enhancing our Children's and Young Adults fiction collections, and will also go toward the Adult Summer Reading Program prizes. The staff at the Wallkill Public Library express our appreciation to all who've served in observance of Memorial Day! We thank you for your service!

The Wallkill American Legion will be holding a Memorial Day observance activity on the library lawn on May 25th at 11am. Please note that the library will be closed in honor of the holiday on that day.

Congratulations to Violet F.! She reached her 400 book milestone for 1000 Books Before Kindergarten! That's fantastic, Violet! You'll get to 1000 in no time at this pace.

If you're interested in participating in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten with your pre-K child please swing by the library to sign up. We also have other reading challenges for older kids and adults. Drop by the Wallkill Public Library to find out more. Let's read some books!

We had another Wings Over Wallkill Walk at the Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge on May 16th, and it was a beautiful day full of beautiful birds.

The next Wings Over Wallkill birdwatching walk is on Saturday June 13th. Soña Mason, a native plant expert, will be joining us to discuss what's in bloom and going on with the plants around us! Come join us once a month at the Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge located at 902 Hoagerburgh Rd. from 9am until 10ish as we explore the grasslands in search of our fine feathered friends. Long pants and a good pair of binoculars or camera are highly recommended.

The Friends of the Wallkill Public Library congratulate Lori P., the lucky winner of the Renegades Raffle Basket. Her ticket was drawn at the Duck Derby festivities on May 9th. Thank you to all who purchased tickets. Your support helps fund all the great programs at the Wallkill Public Library!

Many thanks to Heritage Financial Credit Union and the Hudson Valley Renegades for their kind donations that made the raffle basket possible!

Some of the students from Wallkill Senior High School joined us for a preliminary Wings Over Wallkill Walk at the Shawangunk Grasslands Wildlife Refuge. We had a beautiful walk and saw some great birds as we learned about the importance of grassland habitats. Thank you to Miss Werlau and Mr. Ferraiolo for arranging this with the library for a second year in a row.

The Wings Over Wallkill birdwatching walks are open to the public starting May 16th.
