Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the foundation of the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We remember not just their service, but their courage, their dedication, and their unwavering commitment to something greater than themselves.

May we never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸

NATIONAL POLICE WEEK 2026

National Police Week 2026 takes place from Sunday, May 10, through Saturday, May 16, honoring law enforcement officers across the country, with major commemorative events held in Washington, D.C.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and designated the week in which it falls as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress, this week serves to recognize and honor law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty while protecting others.

Throughout this week, we recognize and honor the dedicated members of the Wareham Police Department, along with law enforcement agencies nationwide. It is a time to reflect on the courage, commitment, and sacrifices made each day by those who serve and protect our communities.

National Police Week also includes Peace Officers Memorial Day, a solemn occasion to pay tribute to the officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice and to express our deep appreciation for those who continue to serve.
