BEYOND THE BADGE

This morning, one of our midnight patrol officers, Officer Faria, participated in the K9 Heroes 5K in Bourne, raising money and awareness for K9 PTSD research. The event also honored K9 Kitt, Sean Gannon, and the incredible K9s who serve alongside law enforcement.

Officer Faria finished 3rd overall out of 180 racers and earned 3rd-place male finisher!

Congratulations, Officer Faria, and thank you for supporting such a meaningful cause!

Enhancing Public Safety at Community Events

Those who attended the Onset Bay Association Harvest Moon Festival may have noticed the Meridian Rapid Defense Group barrier system were deployed along Onset Avenue to help secure the event perimeter. This system was provided through a free demonstration arranged and secured by members of the Wareham Police Department.

The Wareham Police Department continually seeks proactive ways to enhance public safety at community events throughout Wareham and Onset. Our goal is to help ensure that residents, visitors, and event attendees can enjoy these gatherings while maintaining appropriate security measures that meet today’s public safety standards.

This demonstration provided our public safety partners with a firsthand look at how the Meridian barrier system operates and can be deployed in a real-world event setting. Meanwhile, the Wareham Police Department continues to work tirelessly to explore state and federal funding opportunities to support the implementation of these security measures at future community events.

Our commitment remains the same: proactively identifying solutions that help protect our community while keeping Wareham and Onset welcoming places to gather and celebrate.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY – PLYMOUTH AVENUE

Plymouth Avenue resurfacing operations are scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, and Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Motorists should expect traffic delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Please use caution when traveling through the work area and allow extra time.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit with our officers and firefighters at Woods at Wareham! We enjoyed spending time with our community, meeting families, and giving the kids an opportunity to check out some of our police vehicles.

Friendly Reminder: Onset Bay Association Harvest Moon Festival Sunday, October 11, 2026

The Onset Bay Association Harvest Moon Festival will take place this Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the Onset Pier and Bandshell.

Please be aware that there will be parking and traffic restrictions throughout the village, particularly along:

Onset Avenue
Union Avenue
Waban Avenue

Handicap parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in the first two rows of the Temple Lot closest to the Onset Bandshell.

Please plan accordingly, allow extra travel time, and consider using alternate routes during the festival.
