McLean County Sheriff's Office North Dakota, provides law enforcement services to McLean County and its contract cities.

The McLean County Sheriff's Office operates with a complement of 41 staff members. The elected Sheriff, JR Kerzmann leads the department with the assistance of the Chief Deputy. Administrative Services is commanded by a Captain and is staffed with two detectives, a transport officer, a part-time court officer and two administrative assistants. The patrol division is commanded by a Lieutenant; thre

e patrol squads are staffed with each a Sergeant, Corporal, a K9 team and three deputies. The Corrections/Dispatch division is commanded by a Captain; and four shifts consisting of a Correctional Sergeant and two Correctional Officers.

We have been made aware of a text message circulating that claims to be a “North Dakota DMV Notice” about an outstanding traffic citation and directs recipients to click a payment link.

⚠️ This message is a SCAM!!

Law enforcement and DMV offices do NOT send text messages demanding payment for traffic citations or threatening license suspension through a link. The message may also come from an international phone number and include suspicious website links.

What to do if you receive this message:
• ❌ Do NOT click the link
• ❌ Do NOT reply to the message
• 📱 Report it as spam and delete it

If there are concerns about the status of your license, always contact your state’s motor vehicle department directly using their official website or phone number.
