Calling all AOBA members! Participate in our food drive for the Capital Area Food Bank from October 26 to November 16th! This food drive is a friendly competition against The Maryland Multi-Housing Association (MMHA) to see which association can collect the most donations for our local food banks!

There are several ways to get involved:
1️⃣ Organize a food drive at your building. We developed a toolkit for you to use on-site at your building, click here to download: https://bit.ly/31MgYJ4

2️⃣Donate to the Capital Area Food Bank. We partnered with Building Maintenance Services to fundraise and they are matching the first $1,500 in donations! That’s 9,000 meals! $1 donated = 2.5 meals! Donate at https://bit.ly/3dZTntc

3️⃣Purchase much-needed food items on AOBA's Amazon Registry. (You need to be logged in to an Amazon account to purchase). These canned goods will be delivered to AOBA's office and then to the Capital Area Food Bank. Click here to view registry: https://amzn.to/35E2s74

If you don't manage a property, but want to get involved, let us know. There are plenty of ways to volunteer! To learn more visit https://bit.ly/2ToKxLV or contact to Jeanne Clarke at [email protected].

One of our members was featured in this month's issue of BOMA Magazine! 👏 Mathew Smith from JBG SMITH shared his insight and best practices on emergency preparedness. Check out the article here: https://bit.ly/32jPElS

In recognition of National Preparedness Month, BOMA International will be highlighting insights from commercial real estate professionals on all things emergency preparedness throughout September. This quote comes from an article titled “A ‘Living Plan’ for a Changing World” that was published in the September/October 2019 issue of BOMA Magazine. While the article was published before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the lessons shared by industry experts are especially applicable today. Among other valuable takeaways, Matthew Smith, Director of Security for JBG SMITH, emphasizes the importance of treating your emergency preparedness plan as a living document that is actively reviewed and updated as time goes on. Check out the full article here: https://bit.ly/2R9k3NF.

(P.S. – Can you guess which BOMA local hosted the active assailant drill featured in this graphic?)
