The future of work is being built in the states.

Last week at , we announced a new partnership with RAISE US to help governors lead on AI and workforce policy. The goal: make sure workers are supported, not supplanted, as the AI economy takes shape.

NGA Chair Governor Wes Moore and Gov. Spencer J. Cox joined RAISE US Co-Chair & CEO Sec. Gina Raimondo and Co-Chair Gov. Eric Holcomb to make the case that governors are best positioned to test what works, and scale it fast.

With more than 20 new governors taking office next year, this partnership will get proven, real-time policy models into their hands from day one.

At the 2026 , Maryland Gov. Wes Moore took the helm as NGA Chair, launching Service United, his signature initiative to help governors across the country create and expand paid service programs that meet real community needs while opening career pathways for young people.

Modeled on Maryland's first-in-the-nation service year program, the campaign launched with $10 million in philanthropic support and a bold goal: 1 million Americans serving every year within the next decade.

Under Gov. Moore as chair, NGA also announced its Campaign for America, which will work across party lines to strengthen and restore civic bonds.
