Aug. 26 is Women’s Equality Day, when we honor the pioneering suffragists who persisted through decades of struggle to finally win American women the right to vote, and we celebrate the advocates and everyday heroes who have continued the long march for equality ever since.

The 19th Amendment was certified 103 years ago -- three years before the founding of ROA. Since the Revolutionary War, more than 3 million women have served, even before the military fully recognized their service.

Thank you for your service, from all of us at ROA.

08/26/2023

DAF observes Women’s Equality Day to commemorate the advancement of women’s civil rights & call attention to issues that adversely affect careers & advancement. We continue to make efforts to ensure each member of our can serve to their full potential.

Women's Equality Day message from 7th Mission Support Command in Europe.

Happy Women's Equality Day to all those who came before, and are currently serving.

We'll be sharing several videos throughout the day from military units around the world.

08/19/2023

The leaders of the Senate Appropriations Committee have reached an agreement to add $8 billion to the FY24 defense budget, using emergency spending authority to bypass spending limits established by the recent debt ceiling agreement.

The debt agreement suspends the debt limit in exchange for capping federal spending over the next two years. National security spending would be confined to the president’s requested levels of $886 billion in FY25 and $895 billion in FY25.

Once the agreement was reached, lawmakers began discussing various options for bypassing their own spending limits to strengthen the defense budget. The simplest option is to utilize an emergency supplemental spending bill, which would not be subjected to the spending caps.

This effort aimed to foster a mutually beneficial, long-term security cooperation relationship between the two partnering entities.

The Pentagon is now "executing six approved mission assignments from FEMA" that include moving people, cargo and supplies to the island; housing first responders; and helping with aerial firefighting, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh told reporters at a press conference Tuesday." Today, on National Navajo Code Talkers Day, we pay tribute to the remarkable Native Americans and First Nations people who played a vital role in the U.S. war effort during World War II and other conflicts.

Their languages, including Cherokee, Choctaw, Comanche, Hopi, and Navajo, were turned into ingenious codes that baffled Axis powers. President Ronald Reagan established this day in 1982, and we continue to honor their legacy today.

Today is the last day to send in your "Intent to File" form.

The PACT Act is perhaps the largest health care and benefit expansion in VA history. The full name of the law is The Sergeant First Class (SFC) Heath Robinson Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act.

The PACT Act will bring these changes:
- Expands and extends eligibility for VA health care for Veterans with toxic exposures and Veterans of the Vietnam, Gulf War, and post-9/11 eras
- Adds 20+ more presumptive conditions for burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic exposures
- Adds more presumptive-exposure locations for Agent Orange and radiation
- Requires VA to provide a toxic exposure screening to every Veteran enrolled in VA health care
- Helps us improve research, staff education, and treatment related to toxic exposures
If you’re a Veteran or survivor, you can file claims now to apply for PACT Act-related benefits.

The U.S. Air Force's top officer in Europe said on Tuesday that the service aims to bring new fighter pilots, air planners, and other reservists to the region.

This move comes as the military seeks to relieve active duty troops who have been stretched thin by efforts to deter Russia and support NATO amid the war in Ukraine.

The plan is a response to President Joe Biden's executive order on July 13, which authorized the Pentagon to mobilize up to 3,000 reservists for duty in Europe.

Military officials have clarified that this order will not increase the total number of U.S. troops in the region.

"Fifty years ago, the United States military began to fill its ranks solely with brave Americans who freely chose to defend our republic. Ever since the draft ended on July 1, 1973, Americans have joined our military out of conviction, not compulsion. Over the years, the members of our All-Volunteer Force have been motivated by patriotism, pride, and principle—by the desire to be a part of something bigger than themselves, and by their love for our exceptional nation."
