Cybersecurity
On Oct. 4, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs issued a friendly reminder to our nation’s veterans that this month is cybersecruity awareness month – and that veterans tend to be a high-value target for phishers. In an effort to spread awareness and educate veterans and their families on how to protect themselves online, the Department of Veterans Affairs recommends adhering to the following principles:
🇺🇸 Beware of suspicious emails. Check the sender’s email address to ensure it is legitimate. When in doubt, do not click on any links or share your information—and then delete the suspicious email.
🇺🇸 Enable multi-factor authentication to your accounts, which is a second step to logging in, which often means entering a code you receive via text or email, to verify your identity. Adding this additional layer of security makes it much more challenging for a hacker to crack your password and gain access to your account.
🇺🇸 Create unique, complex passwords for all your accounts. To keep track of all your passwords, you can research password manager options through your browser or third-party applications.
🇺🇸 Keep software up to date with the latest security features on all your devices and set up automatic updates directly from the source. Be careful of any pop-up windows prompting you to update your software or account.

NATO
"This is what every military person should be capable of; not only Active Duty but also Guard and Reserve (see clip); not only in the US (recognized in 2018 by DoD as a Critical Wartime Task) but also throughout NATO - a Committee of Chiefs of Military Medical Services in NATO (COMEDS) decision of 2019.
Everywhere training programs are being changed and implemented, and the Interallied Confederation of Medical Reserve Officers (CIOMR) has been working along the same lines since 2003.
For further details visit https://bit.ly/3AvRGOn
And of great significance: CIOMR's Combat Casualty Care (CCC) test is in NATO's Electronic Training Opportunities Catalogue (ETOC): every NATO soldier can apply to CIOMR to take that test."

CTA: National Guard Supplemental Funding
ROA would like you to participate in this Call to Action for Congress to pass supplemental funding to reimburse the National Guard for their security mission at the United States Capitol.
Currently, the House of Representatives has passed a $1.9 billion funding bill and the Senate is considering a $3.9 billion version. The House and Senate are scheduled to adjourn for August and most of September, which could force the National Guard to cancel weekend drills and scheduled annual training until the beginning of the next fiscal year. These cancellations could result in a Guardsman’s ability to earn enough points for a good retirement year.
Please add your personal story if you will be affected if Congress does not provide funding on time. Click here to log in and send your message: https://bit.ly/2V4AUGs.
