Congratulations to our Wilkinson County High School Senior Football Players who received special recognition from U.S. Congressman Bennie G. Thompson, Representative for Mississippi’s Second Congressional District.

Each senior was presented with a certificate recognizing his hard work, dedication, achievement, and commitment to exceeding expectations. What a special way to honor these young men during their senior year!

We are proud of you, Wildcats! Continue to work hard, lead by example, and remember that the lessons learned on the field extend far beyond the game. 🏈💚🧡

Thank you to the James E. Clyburn Leadership Institute for inviting me to speak with this year’s fellowship cohort.

During the panel discussion with DNC Chairman Martin and Rep. Christian Menefee, we discussed the implications of the Louisiana v. Callais decision for national and state races going forward, as well as the work ahead in the 2026 midterm elections and the 2028 presidential election.

I appreciate the opportunity to share in this conversation and encourage the next generation of leaders.

: Jackson State University junior Brooke Williams gained firsthand experience in the federal government this summer after completing the Bennie G. Thompson Congressional Summer Internship in Washington, D.C.

Williams spent the summer working alongside congressional professionals and gaining insight into the legislative process.

I am proud to invite you to hear the Coahoma Community College Choir and soloist Anna Hurd as they represent Mississippi at the 55th Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference Gospel Extravaganza in Washington, D.C., on September 17.

Each year, I have the privilege of selecting talented performers from Mississippi to share their gifts alongside performers from Georgia, Louisiana, and South Carolina. This year, we are proud to showcase the rich gospel music tradition of the Mississippi Delta on a national stage.

The event will start at 8:00 p.m. at the United House of Prayer in Washington, D.C.

On Wednesday, my staff completed their annual volunteer service in the Jackson community, working with Stewpot Community Services to provide meals to more than 175 people, including 20 Meals on Wheels deliveries.

For more than 40 years, Stewpot has served the Jackson community, providing meals, a helping hand, and a place to turn for those in need.

Organizations like Stewpot remind us of what we can accomplish when we come together to care for our neighbors.
