Americans deserve a FEMA that is fully staffed, prepared, and ready before the next hurricane strikes.

The Government Accountability Office also found that the disaster agency is currently operating without a strategic workforce plan to determine staffing needs.

I was humbled to join the G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center for the unveiling of the Congressman Bennie G. Thompson Health and Wellness Center.

My sincere thanks to Dr. James L. Coleman, Jr., the Board of Directors, and the entire G.A. Carmichael team for this incredible honor. Federally Qualified Health Centers like G.A. Carmichael are vital to Mississippi, expanding access to quality, affordable health care in rural and underserved communities.

Together, we will continue working to ensure every Mississippian has access to the care they deserve. Health care is a necessity, not a privilege.

Thank you to the Holmes County NAACP and Claiborne County officials for inviting me to speak in their communities this past weekend and provide legislative updates.

We had an important discussion about the harmful effects of the Big Ugly Law and the ongoing Republican effort to redraw congressional districts in ways that could weaken Black voices and representation.

I was happy to be a part of the grand opening of Jackson’s first AT&T Connected Learning Center, made possible through the partnership between AT&T and The Bean Path.

The center will provide the community with free access to high-speed internet, Wi-Fi, Dell computers, digital literacy training, tutoring, workforce development opportunities, and educational resources.
