Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas
The omnibus passed last night extends the Health Coverage Tax Credit for another year. Many Delphi Salaried Retirees rely on HCTC to afford health care. This re-authorization of a key tax credit that makes health care more affordable for these retirees is a strong step forward, and I will continue to advocate for a long term reauthorization of this credit.
I have long advocated for the end of surprise medical billing for those that are rushed to medical care in out of network healthcare facilities. The language of the Omnibus package not only protects patients from such medical bills, but it also allows doctors and hospitals to have a fair negotiation process with insurers. I will continue to advocate for fair healthcare prices and practices.
Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) cosponsored H.R. 2328, The Community Health Investment, Modernization, and Excellence Act of 2019, which has been included in the Omnibus Package that passed the House of Representatives earlier today. This legislation aims to end surprise medical billing by shielding...
This legislation is a much needed and long overdue step towards recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. This bill addresses coronavirus funding concerns, as well as provides important funds for our government through the remainder of this fiscal year. I will continue to support legislation that helps our community recover from the pandemic and its economic hardships.
With the support of Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10), the House passed an omnibus funding and COVID-19 relief bill. This legislation helps Americans navigate the healthcare and financial hardships that have resulted from the coronavirus pandemic, and also funds the government for the upcoming year. ....
#OnThisDay 117 years ago, the Wright Brothers took flight. To this day, Dayton still embodies the Wright Brothers' spirit of innovation.
The establishment of an AFWERX hub in Dayton is a huge win for our community. I have been a longtime advocate with United States Air Force for synergies in #OH10
Dayton named AFWERX hub
I am proud to support this year’s National Defense Authorization Act that puts America first. I’ve worked with my colleagues across the aisle to achieve this final bill, which invests $58.5 million in infrastructure at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, addresses the Department of Defense’s needs in the pandemic, modernizes the nuclear triad, increases diversity within our ranks, and includes provisions to prevent military sexual assault.

General Chuck Yeager truly embodied the innovative spirit of the Wright Brothers and literally broke through barriers. He leaves behind an incredible legacy and will continue to be an inspiration to America’s pilots.
#OnThisDay 79 years ago, #PearlHarbor was attacked and the world was forever changed. We remember and honor those who lost their lives that day, as well as the survivors.
Montgomery County is at a level of severe exposure and spread, and Greene and Fayette counties are at a level of very high exposure and spread. Please social distance, wash your hands, and wear a mask.

I have been working with top leadership of U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), United States Air Force, and United States Space Force to ensure NASIC continues its critical work in space intelligence. This announcement shows Space Force’s understanding of the importance of NASIC’s work, and bodes well for future partnership between 88th Air Base Wing, NASIC, and Space Force. As Space Force continues to be stood up, I will keep advocating to bring its missions to our community. Read more via Dayton Daily News:

Tonight I joined my colleagues on the House Floor to honor Rep. John Lewis's life and legacy. I am calling on Congress to pass & send to the President's desk for signature the bipartisan Voting Rights Amendment Act.
Today I spoke on the House Floor in support of #FY21NDAA. This bipartisan bill: ✅provides support to the people who defend our country ✅includes remarkable strides to protect military sexual assault victims ✅advances diversity & equality in our servicemembers' ranks
Today U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secretary Mark Esper, under questioning by me, testified to the House Armed Services Committee that he had “not received a briefing that included the word ‘bounty,’” and that if there was “a credible, corroborated report that used those words, certainly it would have been brought to [his] attention by the chain of command...for action.”
Awesome flyby by 180th Fighter Wing over Dayton today. Thank you to everyone fighting #COVID19 on the frontlines #SaluteOhio

Today I asked U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secretary Mark Esper about how Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will be affected as we stand up United States Space Force. Watch the video here:
One of the most important jobs I have as a Member of Congress is supporting our troops. As a conferee negotiating the final details of this year’s defense bill, I advocated relentlessly for and was able to authorize $120.9 million in additional funding for the largest expansion project in Wright-Patterson AFB’s history; increased communication between the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and local governments near military installations regarding PFAS, a provision my office drafted in direct coordination with Dayton, Ohio - City Government; the ability for us to deter our adversaries with low-yield nuclear weapons; new provisions to further address military sexual assault; more F-35s; and improved safety in military housing. This bill also gives our service members their largest pay increase in a decade and 12 weeks of paid family leave. I strongly support this year’s defense bill to provide the necessary funding for our troops to continue to keep us safe. Q: No one on this planet told you that President Donald J. Trump was tying aid to investigations, yes or no? A: Yes.
I am thrilled to announce that the Fostering Stable Housing Opportunities Act, which I’ve been pushing for over 3 years now, has passed the House of Representatives without objection. This is a huge step forward in our fight to end federally created homelessness for our foster care youth, who all too often struggle to find safe, stable housing during the overnight transition from foster care to independent adulthood. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Senate to ensure this bill becomes law and that aging out of foster care does not mean aging into homelessness. Tonight I joined CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront to explain why the American public deserves to see this impeachment firsthand.
House Democrats' impeachment process is being done in secret, which I believe is a violation of the Constitution & the rights of the American public. They are preventing Members of Congress from telling our constituents what they are doing behind closed doors.
Thank you YWCA Dayton for your support on my bill with Rep. Kathleen Rice to improve domestic violence records reporting & keep domestic abusers from obtaining firearms. #WATCH via WDTN-TV:
Tonight I joined CNN's Erin Burnett OutFront to discuss gun reform.
This morning I joined MSNBC's Morning Joe to discuss gun reform following the mass shooting in Dayton.
Tonight I led 32 seconds of silence on the House Floor to honor the victims of the mass shooting in Dayton & thank Dayton Police. You can watch the full clip here:
Today I joined Fox News Outnumbered Overtime with Harris Faulkner to preview Special Counsel Robert Mueller's testimony next week at the House Intelligence Committee.
I am disappointed by House Democrats' #FY20NDAA. This bill, in its totality, makes us less safe.
Great discussion this morning on CNN New Day with Alisyn Camerota about rising tensions with #Iran.
Last week I re-introduced the Fostering Stable Housing Opportunities Act to help break the issue of federally created homelessness, in which youth are currently aging out of foster care and into homelessness. Learn more via Cox Media Group & WHIO's reporting here.
