🚨 Important: New FinCEN Reporting Requirements – Small Business Owners Take Note 🚨
If you own an LLC, corporation, or small business in the U.S., this is important.
Under the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), many businesses are now required to file a Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) report with the U.S. Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).
🔎 What does this mean?
You may need to report:
The names of business owners
Dates of birth
Residential addresses
A copy of a driver’s license or passport
📅 Deadlines matter.
Businesses formed before 2024 had a reporting deadline (check current updates), and new businesses generally must file shortly after formation.
💸 Penalties for not filing can be serious, including fines that can add up daily and possible criminal penalties for willful non-compliance.
⚠️ Important notes:
This is a federal requirement — not a scam.
You do NOT need to pay a third-party company hundreds of dollars to file.
Filing is done directly through FinCEN’s official website.
Some businesses are exempt (like certain larger companies and regulated entities).
If you have an LLC, corporation, or other registered entity, make sure you:
1️⃣ Confirm whether you’re required to file
2️⃣ Verify your deadline
3️⃣ File directly through the official FinCEN site
When in doubt, talk to your CPA or business attorney.

They extended the High Wind warning into tomorrow, and with there still being wide spread power outages, our office will be closed again tomorrow Tuesday December 9th!
Be safe out there and try to stay warm!

With the weather saying the wind will pick back up again, wide spread power outages and the borough closing the schools tomorrow, we are also going to be closed tomorrow Monday December 8th.
