Good afternoon Waterville. Please join us in congratulating Officer Ashley Libby, who graduated this morning from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy’s 49th Basic Law Enforcement Training program (BLEPT). Officer Libby was voted class president of this graduating class and also won the Frank Poirier Professionalism award.

Officer Libby is the first Waterville officer to win both of those honors since 1995, when Officer Lincoln Ryder had received them both. When he retired from Waterville, he retired as the Deputy Chief and is currently the director of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

After spending the past 18 weeks in training, we are happy to have her back with the agency. Welcome back & congratulations Officer Libby!

Members of the Waterville Police Department participated in the Maine Law Enforcement Torch Run (for Special Olympics) earlier today. Waterville took the handoff from the Sheriffs Office and ran from Water Street to College Avenue for the handoff to the Fairfield Police Department - Maine. We want to thank Officers Smedberg and Bouley as well as Leica from the High Hopes Clubhouse for representing Waterville today. It was another warm day for this run, so thank you and congratulations to everyone who took part in the run today from Topsham all the way to Fairfield. 🚓 🏃 🏃‍♀️ 🚓 👏

Escorting the runners was Chief Bonney, Major Longley and Deputy Phil Lynch who ran part of it with Waterville as well!
