APPARATUS SPOTLIGHT

Engine 250 is our first out engine for fire calls. It has a 1000 gallon water tank, a combination cutter/spreader and hydraulic ram for extrication. It carries a full compliment of medical equipment.

We received the engine following the closure of Newell Volunteer Fire Department in Mecklenburg County in 2011. Years later, Newell VFD is still helping serve the community.

**Flash Flooding**

While we continue to get much needed rain in our area, there are several roadways flooding, trees down and power lines down. The Department of Transportation is closing roads with barricades as needed.

The barricades are there for your safety. While the rain may have stopped in some areas, the danger has not. Creeks, streams, and drainage systems continue to rise long after the rainfall ends, and with additional heavy rain expected overnight, conditions can quickly worsen.
Remember:
🌧️ Never drive through flooded roadways.
🚧 Never move or drive around barricades.
πŸš— Turn around and find another route.
It only takes a small amount of moving water to sweep a vehicle off the roadway, and the depth or condition of the road beneath the water is often impossible to see.
