Waxhaw Police Department

Waxhaw Police Department We would like to welcome you to the official Waxhaw Police Department's page. We have three divisions: Administrative, Patrol, and Investigations.

The department is currently made up of 30 full-time officers and 5 part-time (or auxiliary) officers. As we update our Facebook, we will provide information on the officers and the job they do for the department. The officers of the Waxhaw Police Department are dedicated public servants who are passionate about their work and community. We as a department are constantly trying to improve as we par

ticipate in training around the state as well as within our own training program. We work closely with all other law enforcement agencies within Union County to combat problems that face all communities. We can not do this alone, we need the help of the citizens to make us successful. It is our goal to continue to reduce crime and solve quality of life problems so that the citizens and others who pass through our town can feel safe to function without the fear of harassment and violence that often victimizes our citizens. The only way to ensure this goal is met is for the Police Department to form a partnership with our community. This partnership must include residents, businesses, public service agencies and the faith community in order to be a success. It takes the entire community to combat the problems of today.

A Message from Chief Wilson: Community Safety Initiative: โ€œSafe Streets, Safe Summerโ€

As summer approaches and more residents head outdoors, the Waxhaw Police Department will be increasing neighborhood patrols and targeted traffic enforcement throughout town.

With children out of school, more pedestrians and cyclists on the roads, and busy community events ahead, weโ€™re asking everyone to help keep Waxhaw safe this summer through the following ways:

๐Ÿšธ Slow Down in Neighborhoods
๐Ÿ›‘ Obey posted speed limits and stay alert, especially in residential areas and near parks
๐Ÿ“ต Drive Distraction-Free - put the phone away while driving
๐Ÿ”’ Lock Vehicles & Homes - remove valuables from sight and lock car doors, even when parked at home overnight
๐Ÿ“ž Report Suspicious Activity - if something doesnโ€™t look right, say something.

Together, we can help make this a safe and enjoyable summer for the entire Waxhaw community.

Stay safe,
Chief Dexter Wilson

Today, during National Police Week, we gathered at the Union County Judicial Center for a heartfelt Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony. This event, hosted by the Union County Sheriff's Office, allowed us to pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

We were honored to have our very own Chief Dexter Wilson lead the Pledge of Allegiance, while Waxhaw Police Department's Cristina Long beautifully sang the National Anthem. Chief Wilson placed a wreath at the memorial in memory of Waxhaw Police Officer Richard Belk, who passed in 2010.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today to reflect, remember, and honor those who protect and serve. Your support means the world to us! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ
