📣 Whitehall, come out and show your Ram Pride! ❤️🖤

The WYHS Homecoming Parade steps off Wednesday, October 7 at 6 PM, and we want to see our community lining the route! The parade will begin at Etna Road Elementary, travel along Bernhard Road and Rickenbacker Avenue, and head down Yearling Road to WYHS.

Bring the family, find a spot along the route and cheer on our students as they march through Whitehall!

There’s nothing better than seeing our community come together to support our Rams. We’ll see you along the route! ❤️🖤

🏅 Nursery Rhyme Olympics! 🏅

Our kindergarten students celebrated completing their first CKLA Amplify Knowledge Unit with the Nursery Rhyme Olympics! Students took their learning outside and rotated through six fun stations inspired by the nursery rhymes they’ve been learning: from a Mother Goose relay race and Jack Be Nimble hurdles to Ring Around the Rosie hula hooping and a Humpty Dumpty egg race!

What a fun way to celebrate learning, get moving and bring these classic nursery rhymes to life!

Check out this update from the 4th grade team at Etna Road:

Hear Ye, Hear Ye! All Hail the Middle Ages! This week, 4th grade started Unit 2: Knights & Castles: Europe’s Middle Ages. We started learning about the hierarchy of the Roman Empire and major events that happened during the time period of the Middle Ages from the 500s -1500s. To make a better connection to the text we will be reading, we became the Knights of the RAM table. Similar to the Knights of the Round Table, but we will protect our knowledge and learning environment.

Each 4th grade class has a crest to represent their house or "kingdom." In Chapter 3 of our Unit 2 reader, we will learn more about what it is to be a knight in the Middle Ages. Students are also including their other teachers or staff members by calling them Lady or Sir (last name), or acknowledging the Queens of our Etna Road Kingdom, Queen Brown & Queen Peery.

Flannels, Flapjacks & Tall Tales! 🪓

Second graders at Etna Road and Beechwood recently wrapped up their Amplify Fairy Tales & Tall Tales unit, learning what makes a tall tale larger than life.

At Etna Road, students celebrated with Flannels and Flapjacks, inspired by the legendary Paul Bunyan, and even created cyclones in water bottles in honor of Pecos Bill. At Beechwood, Paul Bunyan himself made a special appearance, with a little help from SRO Officer Frost, and flipped flapjacks for students to enjoy!

It was a fun (and delicious!) way to bring these larger-than-life stories to life!

Kae Avenue Kindergartners had a special visitor in their classrooms last week! Assistant principal, Mr. Johnson, otherwise known as "Firefighter Fred", stopped by to read a special story and review with students all the letters of the alphabet they have learned so far! It's safe to say that these little rams had a blast! Thank you, Mr. Johnson!
