Meet us at the Whittier Public Library - Central location on Saturday September 19th at 1 PM to listen to stimulating, thought-provoking poetry readings from the poets of Riot of Roses Publishing House, founded by South Whittier local, Brenda Vaca.
Riot of Roses Publishing House is Xicana-owned and was founded to amplify the stories of historically silenced voices and narratives.
Taking to the library stage are Jesenia Chavez, Dr. Angélica M. Yañez, Pam Concepcion, & Brenda Vaca, each will be reading selected works for an afternoon of poetry and prose.

Pam Concepcion is a poet and multimedia artist from Metro Manila, Philippines. Being an immigrant, she is always drifting between two conflicting worlds: whether it's here & home, day-job & real job, online & offline, somehow she's in two places at once. Like The Beatles' song you can find her here, there & everywhere.
Jesenia Chavez is a Chicana writer from South East Los Angeles, a public school teacher, and author of two poetry collections, This Poem Might Save You (me) and the forthcoming Pocha Prayerbook. Find more at jeseniachavez.com
Dr. Angélica M. Yañez is an Indigenous Chicana poet and educator from California’s Central Coast and the author of My God Is Brown. She is an associate professor of Chicana/x and Ethnic Studies and the founder of The Ancestral Teachings Institute in San Diego.
Brenda Vaca is a Xicana poet, public speaker, preacher, author, and independent publisher. She is the founder of Riot of Roses Publishing House and the author of Riot of Roses: Poems and Odes y Oraciones (y unas pocas maldiciones). She is a South Whittier local.
