Wichita LGBT Health

Wichita LGBT Health Wichita LGBT Health is a coalition of organizations interested in increasing the Wichita LGBT community's access to health care and related resources.

We have three main projects that we are working on:

The first is our online LGBT-friendly health provider database found at www.wichitalgbthealth.org. These health providers are committed to being open and welcoming to Wichita's LGBT community. The second is the health fair at the annual Wichita Pride festival. This event provides in-person contact between the community and our health care provid

Your future friend group could be just one ticket away.

The ticket deadline is only 3 weeks away, and we still have spots available! The Friend Making Experience itself is 5 weeks away, but once ticket sales close, that’s it. If you’ve been thinking about coming, now is the time to lock in your spot.

Let’s be honest—making friends as an adult is hard.

It’s easy to assume everyone already has their people. It can feel awkward walking up to strangers, and most of us don’t have many opportunities to meet new people outside of work or school.

That’s exactly why we created the Friend Making Experience.

This isn’t networking. It isn’t speed dating. It’s an evening designed to make meeting people feel natural, comfortable, and genuinely fun.

Through interactive activities, guided conversations, and rotating groups, you’ll get the chance to meet everyone in the room without the pressure of figuring out who to talk to first. Everyone who buys a ticket is coming for the same reason: they’re hoping to make new friends, too.

Imagine leaving with a new board game group, concert buddy, coffee friend, gym partner, book club, movie crew, or simply someone who makes Wichita feel a little less lonely.

Every friendship starts with one conversation.

Five weeks from now, you could be wondering why you almost didn’t come.

Don’t let the ticket deadline sneak up on you. You have 3 weeks left to reserve your spot, and we’d love to help you find your people.

Cyclospora Outbreak Update

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is investigating a multistate outbreak of Cyclospora infections. As of July 14, 2026, there have been 1,645 laboratory-confirmed cases nationwide, including 22 confirmed cases in Kansas.

Cyclospora is a parasite that can cause diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, fatigue, and loss of appetite. Symptoms typically begin about one week after eating contaminated food, but they can appear anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks after exposure.
At this time, investigators believe the outbreak is likely linked to fresh produce, but no specific food or supplier has been identified.

You can reduce your risk by:

• Washing your hands with soap and water before preparing or eating food.

• Rinsing fresh fruits and vegetables under running water.

• Keeping washed produce separate from raw meat and other raw foods.

If you experience diarrhea lasting more than a few days, severe dehydration, or other concerning symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.

Please remember that fresh fruits and vegetables remain an important part of a healthy diet. The health benefits continue to outweigh the current risk. Public health officials recommend thoroughly washing produce rather than avoiding it.

See our flyer below for more information, and visit the CDC for the latest updates.
