🔥🇺🇸 Labor Day Weekend Fire Safety 🇺🇸🔥

Labor Day weekend is a great time to gather with family, enjoy the outdoors, and fire up the grill or enjoy an evening around the fire pit. Before you light up, take a few minutes to keep your family and property safe!

🍔 Grilling Safety
• Keep grills outdoors and away from homes, decks, railings, and anything that can burn.
• Never leave a hot grill unattended.
• Keep children, pets, and loose clothing a safe distance away.
• Clean grease and buildup regularly to help prevent flare-ups.
• Make sure your grill is completely cool before leaving it unattended.

🔥 Fire Pit Safety
• Use fire pits only in a safe location, away from structures, trees, and other combustible materials.
• Keep a safe zone around the fire and never leave it unattended.
• Keep children and pets at a safe distance.
• Keep a garden hose, bucket of water, or other means of extinguishing the fire nearby.
• Never leave a fire burning when you go inside or leave the area. Make sure it is completely extinguished and cool before you call it a night.

🚒 Training Tonight: New Vehicle Extrication Equipment

Jackson Township Fire & Rescue members spent the evening training on our department’s new Howell Rescue Systems vehicle extrication equipment, recently obtained through an Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Safety Grant.

We were also pleased to have members of Stonelick Township Fire Department join us for the training. Kurt Schoenfeld, from Howell Rescue Systems, provided hands-on instruction and shared his expertise to help our crews become familiar with the new equipment and its capabilities.

Training like this is an important part of making sure our firefighters are prepared to safely and effectively respond when our community needs us most.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH YOUR NEIGHBORS

Jackson Township residents: Representatives from the Clermont County Emergency Management Agency will be in our area over the next several days assessing storm damage, specifically damage to your home or apartment.

You may see them:

Visiting properties and speaking with residents about damage to their homes or apartments
Taking photographs of damaged dwellings
Working alongside a Sheriff’s Deputy or Jackson Township staff member

All representatives will have identification.

This assessment is an important step in the recovery process. The information collected will allow Clermont County to submit storm damage information to the State of Ohio for evaluation of potential assistance, funding, and additional response and recovery efforts.

If your home or apartment sustained storm damage, please report your address to the Township by calling 513-625-1800, option 5, or emailing [email protected]. We will make sure your property is added to the list of locations for the assessment team to visit. Again, the data being collected at this time is for damage to residential structures.

We have also attached the Disaster Recovery Flyer for your review to assist you further in your recovery efforts.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance as we work together through the recovery process. Please continue to watch for updates from Jackson Township and Clermont County Emergency Management.
