Happy Families Daycare is expanding! In this Williston Works podcast clip, Janie Cox shares the exciting news.
The City of Williston has allocated up to $304,950 in December for several new business ventures. Three projects received funds from the Flex PACE Interest Buydown Program. This program utilizes funds from the Bank of North Dakota and Williston STAR Fund at a 2:1 ratio to buy down the interest on commercial loans.
This month, Arnie’s Rentals received funds to help purchase the building east of Arnie's Powersports & Cycle. The current occupants, F & F Sprinkler & Spas, will continue operating at the location until sometime next year. F &F will announce their NEW location at a later date.
The other projects receiving funds were Williston Tire and Automotive and Holiday Inn Express & Suites.

Congratulations to Shawn Wenko!
Williston Mayor Howard Klug announced this morning that Wenko would be stepping in as Interim City Administrator while a permanent replacement for former City Administrator David Tuan is sought. Wenko will begin his new duties on Thursday, December 1st.
Wenko will continue administering the economic development office. However, his office will be relocated to City Hall.

Best wishes to Williston City Administrator David Tuan as he steps away from his current role to relocate to Montana. A Farewell Open House was held for David this afternoon. Williston Mayor Howard Klug will announce an Interim Administrator at a press conference November 29th at 10 am at City Hall.

Each year, the Williston City Commission and STAR Fund Advisory board ⭐ allocate up to $50,000 for nonprofit groups and organizations to fund activities and projects that improve the quality of life in and around the Williston area. Grant recipients in the past include ➡️ Leadership Williston, Maah Daah Hey Trail, Williston Downtowners Association, Entertainment Inc! and many others. The Community Enhancement Grant program is made possible through the Williston STAR Fund ⭐ which was created to help provide financial support for economic and community development projects that create jobs. The funds are derived from a voter-approved 1% city sales tax through June 30, 2030. Seventy-five percent of the collections benefit infrastructure needs and property tax relief while 25% assists projects that promote a vibrant and sustainable community. Williston STAR Fund Child Care Renewal Program ⭐ Programs are available for all new and existing licensed providers with a physical address zip code of 58801. The goal of this program is to encourage providers to remain licensed, and those providers who are not licensed to do so. Upon annual renewal of ND Child Care License🧒, existing providers are each eligible for up to $1,000 in annual assistance. Licensed providers can apply for this grant anytime during the 12-month 📅 licensed period. The Flex PACE and PACE STAR Fund programs ⭐ are interest buydown programs that partner with a local lender, the STAR Fund ⭐ and Bank of North Dakota to reduce the interest rate on a loan. The interest rate to the borrower may be as much as 5% below the rate on the promissory note, but not less than 5% below prime with a floor rate of 1%. This program is intended to make Williston a better place by helping new and existing businesses while lowering the initial loan costs associated with new and expanding investments. The owners of The New Walt’s Market are featured in this week’s Mini Match Monday post! Zach and Shanna Zaste purchased Walt’s Market in 2018 with the dream of reviving the popular meat market. Shanna was no stranger to the business as her dad had extensive experience meat cutting and smoking at a grocery store in Williston. She also expanded the corner market’s offerings to include home décor, kitchen items and even dog treats and sweaters. The longtime Williston couple utilized the resources and services at the Small Business Development Center, Williston Economic Development and First International Bank and Trust to make their dream come true. Shanna said they applied for the Williston STAR Fund Mini Match grant to update the exterior of the building. The Zaste’s received $5,000 for paint, signage and other remodeling expenses.
