FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sheriff’s Office responds to suspicious individual

Williston, N.D., (January 10, 2022) – On January 9, 2022, at approximately 10:49 pm, the Williams County Sheriff’s Office responded to Lukenbill Estates in Missouri Ridge Township, Williams County for a report of a male with a firearm.

A resident on Cottonwood Street reported a male with a gun had been knocking on their front door, but walked away. Approximately 10 minutes later, an individual on Charleston Street reported a male had used a firearm to shoot the lock on the front door of their home. The male attempted to make entry, but was unsuccessful. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

The male was later arrested by the Sheriff’s Office and identified as 26-year-old Devin Fischer of Williston. Fischer has been charged with Burglary (B Felony), Reckless Endangerment (C Felony), Terrorizing (C Felony), Tampering with Evidence on a felony charge (C Felony).

Fischer is currently in custody at the Williams County Correctional Center. The situation remains under investigation and no additional information will be released at this time.

The Williams County SWAT team will be holding a TRAINING today near the area of 900 East Highland Drive starting at approximately 9 am until the afternoon.
The Williams County Sheriff's Office and the Williston Police Department wanted to notify the public of the training due to the possibility of loud noises, verbal commands, and any other deployment of the SWAT teams tools/tactics.
This is a TRAINING only and there is no need to be alarmed!

On Monday, October 25, 2021, County Road 8 (60th St NW) will be closed from 9 am to 8 pm in the area of CR 8C (122nd Ave NW) east to CR 15 (119th Ave NW). BNSF will be working on the railroad crossing. Detour signs are in place.

Update 10/16/2021 @ 12 pm: Effective at 2 pm CT, all Williams County and Township gravel and chip seal roads will be restricted to 7 ton axle weight - maximum gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 105,500 lbs. Roads will continue to be evaluated throughout the day.

All previously issued permits are now void if over the restriction.

10/16/2021: Effective at 7 am CT, all Williams County and Township gravel and chip seal roads will be restricted to 6 ton axle weight - maximum gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 80,000 lbs. Roads will continue to be evaluated throughout the day.
