The Wilmington Department of Veterans Services spent the afternoon with Woodland HomeWorks announcing the winner of a free roof! Thank you!

❤️🤍 This moment says it all — a handshake, a smile, and the start of something truly meaningful.

Our winner, Al, is not only a proud Navy veteran but also a Wilmington firefighter who has spent his life giving back to others.
Now, it’s our turn to give back — to thank Al for his service and dedication to the community he’s helped protect.

We’re honored to make his home safer and stronger, and grateful for the chance to show appreciation for all he’s done.

Stay tuned for the full reveal and project updates!

Thank you Walter Collings of Collings Tree Service for helping us replace the branch flagpole ropes on the Common. Walter then followed us to St. Thomas where we restrung and hung an American flag that once flew over the Capitol.

The Wilmington Department of Veterans Service would like to thank all the people that helped us have a special Memorial Day weekend. The children that helped place a flag and a flower on every Veterans Grave at the Wildwood Cemetery did an amazing job and we were able to Honor our fallen Comrades along with members of the community, Police Explorers, Wilmington Police Department, Scouts and Wilmington Veteran Organizations. Jamie Magaldi and the Department of Public Works did a great job cleaning all the monuments around town and getting the Veterans Lot ready for the weekend. Thank you to Fr. Darin Colarusso of the Parish of the Transfiguration for his services over the weekend. The morning of the Parade was another wonderful display of teamwork, and we are grateful for Lou Cimaglia, James Kent, Rob Gauthier, and David Kirby assisting getting the parade in order during the heavy rain and Bill Manning cooking the hot dogs and serving them to the children after the parade. Thank you to the Wilmington Market Basket and Wilmington House of Pizza for allowing us to stage in their parking lots every year. Thank you to Tom Pazyra for the video and Joe Balliro for the photos. But most of all we would like to send out a big thank you to all the residents of Wilmington that took the time out of their busy weekend to honor our fallen heroes.

THANK YOU

🇺🇸 Wilmington’s annual Memorial Day Parade steps off at 10:00 AM on Monday. The parade will begin at Wilmington Plaza and proceed to the top of the Wilmington Common. 🇺🇸

Motorists should expect temporary road closures and traffic delays along Main Street, Church Street, and Middlesex Avenue. Roads will reopen as the parade moves through the route.

In addition, Route 62 will be closed between Glen Road and Federal Street from approximately 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM during the Town’s Memorial Day observance at Wildwood Cemetery.

Please plan ahead, use alternate routes when possible, and join us as the community comes together to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

I would like to thank everyone who came out this morning and decorated the graves of the Veterans on this Memorial Day weekend. It was nice weather and a very good turn out from the community. I hope to see you all Monday morning for the parade which kicks off at 1000 and then the ceremony at 1100 in the Veterans Lot at Wildwood cemetery.
