EXTREME HEAT ADVISORY – THROUGH THURSDAY, 5:00 PM
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Advisory for our area through Thursday at 5:00 PM. Dangerous heat and humidity can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses.
The Windsor Locks Cooling Center is open at the Senior Center, 519 Spring Street, daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM for anyone needing relief from the heat.
Protect yourself and others:
• Drink plenty of water, even if you don't feel thirsty.
• Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
• Limit strenuous outdoor activities, especially during the hottest part of the day.
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
• Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
• Check on older adults, neighbors, and anyone without air conditioning.
• Move pets indoors or provide shade and plenty of fresh water.
Know the signs of heat illness. If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or has a body temperature above 103°F, call 9-1-1 immediately.
Stay informed by monitoring local weather forecasts and following updates from the Windsor Locks Office of Emergency Management.
