🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨
PLEASE SLOW DOWN — GIVE OUR EMERGENCY RESPONDERS ROOM TO WORK!

On behalf of all of the local emergency agencies that serve this community — City, County, Tribal, State, and Federal — we cannot stress this enough:

When you see emergency vehicles blocking roadways, approaches, intersections, parking lots, or other areas, DO NOT attempt to drive or walk around our emergency vehicles or through the emergency scene!

During today’s incidents, we had several motorists and pedestrians walking and driving through areas that had been blocked off for emergency operations.

🚨 THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!

By entering a blocked-off emergency scene, you are not only putting your own life and the lives of others at risk, but you are also endangering the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, and other emergency responders who are actively working to protect our community especially during a gas leak!

🚒 DO NOT DRIVE OVER FIRE HOSES!

During today’s incidents, we also had motorists attempt to drive over supply hoses that were actively supplying large volumes of water to our fire engines.

Driving over a charged supply hose can:

Damage or destroy the hose.
Cause a sudden loss of water supply to firefighters.
Damage fire hydrants and related equipment.
Damage fire apparatus and pumping equipment.
Create an extremely dangerous situation for firefighters operating at the fire.

Our large-diameter supply hoses can cost close to $1,000 per section to replace.

If you intentionally drive over or damage emergency equipment, you may be held responsible for the cost of replacement and may face additional consequences under applicable laws.

⚠️ PLEASE REMEMBER:

If emergency vehicles are blocking an area, there is a reason.

STOP. SLOW DOWN. DO NOT ENTER THE EMERGENCY ZONE.

Follow the directions of emergency personnel, find an alternate route, and give our responders the room they need to do their jobs safely.

Our firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, utility companies and other emergency responders are working to protect YOU, your family, your property and our community.

PLEASE HELP US KEEP EVERYONE SAFE.

**Notice** Roosevelt County Health Department received confirmation of mosquitos testing positive for West Nile Virus. The mosquitos were collected on July 26 west of Froid. There is an expected two-week time period from positive presence to community cases (animal or human). More information will be shared as we receive it.

🚨 PUBLIC NOTICE – STAGE I BURN RESTRICTIONS 🚨
Roosevelt County/Fort Peck Reservation will be going into Stage I Burn Restrictions beginning on Friday, July 31. The current national wildland preparedness level is at 5 which means resources are stretched thin. Our local Fire Departments and BIA have seen a major drying of the grass fuel model in the past week with an increase of calls. To help our fire departments in fighting these wildland fires we are asking the public to please make sure to have some form of suppression including extinguisher, tools, water, line equipment when working outdoors. Homeowners, please construct a defensible perimeter around your residence. The construction of a 30-foot area of mowed grass or bare/tilled soil will assist firefighters with ability to protect structures.
The Roosevelt County burn permit system will be turned off until conditions improve. This means that burn permits will not be issued; this includes the use of burn barrels. The only open flames allowed at this time are small back yard fires in an established fire ring and BBQs. For more information on burn restrictions please visit https://www.mtfireinfo.org/

📢 PUBLIC NOTICE – Brockton Water System Improvements

Bishop Construction will begin water line valve and hydrant replacement in the community of Brockton starting Monday, July 13, 2026.

🚰 Please be advised: There will be intermittent water shutoffs throughout the day while this work is being completed.

The project is expected to be finished by the end of July 2026.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as these important improvements are made to the community's water system. Thank you for your cooperation!

***Flood Watch has been cancelled.***

Recent heavy rainfall and flooding have kept many locations saturated. The next upcoming storm system has the potential to add an another 0.5 to 1.0 inch of rainfall. Timing will be spread out through all of Tuesday, with periods of rain and the occasional breaks in-between. A few isolated areas may receive more rain if thunderstorms pass directly overhead. Stay tuned for updates and remember: Turn around, don’t drown.

🚨 Public Notice – Water Over Roadways 🚨

Due to recent storms, water is running over several roadways.

Motorists are urged to use extreme caution when traveling. Slow down, watch for standing water, and do not drive through flooded roadways if conditions appear unsafe.

Please continue to monitor road conditions, as conditions may change. Travel safely.

Heavy rain from slow moving thunderstorms has prompted a Flash Flood Warning for portions of Sheridan and Roosevelt Counties through 11:15 PM.

🚫 Burn Permits Temporarily Suspended 🚫

Due to windy conditions predicted the burn permit system for Roosevelt County will be turned OFF.

🔥 No burn permits will be issued Wednesday, June 10, 2026 and Thursday June 11, 2026.

This is for public safety to reduce the risk of uncontrolled fires.

There are still severe driving conditions being reported from Wolf Point to the North Dakota border. Low visibility and hazardous road conditions continue to make travel dangerous.

Please avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary and use extreme caution if you must be on the road.

Monitor local updates and road reports before traveling. Stay safe.
