Roosevelt County Health Department has developed Tick Surveillance Kits for the public. Montana is currently surveilling the black legged tick. Compared to the northeastern United States, Montana does not currently maintain a large, perennial population of ticks that carry Lyme disease. However, with as dry as it has been the past couple years, numbers are increasing. Last year, the black legged tick was confirmed in Sheridan & Dawson Counties, as well as in North Dakota. If interested in obtaining a kit, they can be picked up at Roosevelt County Health Department. For questions, please call 406-653-6223.
