Meet the Medicinal Cannabis Authority

The Medicinal Cannabis Authority (MCA) is responsible for regulating Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ medicinal cannabis industry.

Established under the Medicinal Cannabis Industry Act, 2019, the industry provides a legal framework for the use, research and development of cannabis for medicinal purposes.

Through regulation and oversight, the MCA helps ensure that the industry operates within established laws, regulations and standards; supporting responsible development, compliance, public confidence and the safe development of medicinal cannabis.

MEDICINAL CANNABIS TRAINING FOR HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

The Medicinal Cannabis Authority (MCA) is hosting a specialised training session for health professionals on Thursday, 27 August 2026, from 1:00 PM.

Participants will gain professional knowledge of:

• The medicinal uses of cannabis
• The pharmacology of cannabis
• The legal framework governing interactions between patients and medical professionals in SVG

🎓 Certification from this training is required for medicinal cannabis prescribing or dispensing authorisation with the MCA.

The public is hereby advised that the offices of the Medicinal Cannabis Authority (MCA) will be closed on Thursday, 6th August 2026 due to a staff function.

Normal operations will resume on Friday, 7th August 2026, at 8:00 a.m.

TC Consultation Sessions – Leeward, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

Traditional Cultivators from the Leeward side of Saint Vincent participated in consultation sessions held in Chateaubelair and Vermont, providing valuable insights into their experiences and the challenges encountered within the legal medicinal cannabis industry.

The Honourable Israel Bruce, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transportation, together with members of the Medicinal Cannabis Authority’s Board of Directors and executive leadership, engaged cultivators in meaningful discussions on the opportunities available within the regulated medicinal cannabis sector.

These sessions marked the conclusion of a series of purposeful consultations aimed at understanding the current needs of Traditional Cultivators while outlining upcoming policies, initiatives, and opportunities designed to support their continued participation in the industry.

Traditional Cultivators from the Windward side of Saint Vincent participated in consultation sessions held in Georgetown and Greiggs, providing valuable insights into their experiences thus far and the challenges they face within the legal medicinal cannabis industry.

Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transportation, Israel Bruce, together with members of the Authority’s Board of Directors and the MCA’s executive leadership, engaged traditional cultivators on opportunities available within the regulated medicinal cannabis industry.

These consultations continue on the Leeward side of Saint Vincent as we listen to the voices of our Traditional Cultivators and support their continued participation in the medicinal cannabis industry.

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Transformation, Hon. Israel Bruce, joined members of the Board of Directors of the Medicinal Cannabis Authority, along with representatives from the Zero Hunger Trust Fund, the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority, and the Farmers Support Company, for a site visit to medicinal cannabis manufacturing facilities across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The tour provided a firsthand look at facilities where refined medicinal cannabis products are currently being processed or are being prepared for production, while highlighting the continued collaboration among public and private sector stakeholders to advance value-added production and strengthen the medicinal cannabis industry.
