The Agency for Public Information is the state owned media which falls under the Office of the Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines. Our Mandate is to bring you accurate, first-hand information on Government's Programmes, Policies, Projects and their impact. Our work also takes us into communities, meeting the average Vincentian, and exploring issues of Culture, History and the Arts. O

When contributing, do not post any material that contains:

- hate speech
- profanity, obscenity or vulgarity
- comments that could be considered prejudicial, racist or inflammatory
- nudity or offensive imagery (including, but not limited to, in profile pictures)
- defamation to a person or people
- name calling and/or personal attacks
- comments whose main purpose are commercial in nature and/or to sell a product
- comments that infringe on copyright or another person’s intellectual property
- spam comments from individuals or groups, such as the same comment posted
repeatedly on a profile
- personal information about you or another individual (including identifying information,
email addresses, phone numbers or private addresses)
- false representation of another individual, organization, government or entity
- promotion of a product, business, company or organization

The Agency for Public Information- SVG retains the right to remove any content that does not comply with these guidelines or that the API’s social media team deems inappropriate. Repeated violations may cause the author to be blocked from the API SVG social media sites.

Minister of Housing, Land Management, Urban Development and Informal Settlement Upgrading, Hon. Andrew John, has reaffirmed that the prefab homes being provided are specifically intended to support persons who were displaced by the hurricane and are not intended for persons who were not displaced or for permanent public servants.

But that does not mean other Vincentians who need help to own a home are being left behind.

Minister John made it clear that the Government encourages young people and others seeking assistance with home ownership to come forward. We will continue to do our best to help through the housing programmes and low income housing developments available across the country.

The government’s approach is people centered. It is about responding to the immediate needs of those displaced by Hurricane Beryl, while continuing to create opportunities for more Vincentians to own a home, build greater independence and provide a more secure future for themselves and their families.

The Government continues to advance efforts to help displaced residents of Union Island return to safe and secure homes.

Minister of Housing, Land Management, Urban Development and Informal Settlement Upgrading, Hon. Andrew John, says that at the outset, Government was spending upwards of $1 million each month to provide rental accommodation for displaced Vincentians. The focus now is on repairing damaged homes and building new ones so that families can return home.

Through partnerships with developers, more than 1,500 windows have already been replaced, with the installation of doors also underway as the rebuilding effort continues.

Minister John is therefore appealing to residents of Union Island to come forward and identify their homes so that the necessary assessments can be made and the process of repair and rebuilding can move forward.

The Government also extends its appreciation to hoteliers who have provided accommodation for displaced persons free of charge, recognising that these arrangements can only be sustained for a limited period.
