When women rise, communities thrive. đź’Ş

Despite facing many challenges, more and more women in South Africa are driving change through entrepreneurship.

Through the EU–CAF football partnership, we show how we’re empowering young people and women beyond the pitch - supporting creativity, skills, and opportunities that last.

The world almost missed out.
On the footballer.
On the entrepreneur.
On the artist.
On the innovator.
Not because they lacked talent.
Because opportunities don't always arrive equally.
Today, women across Africa are changing the game in sport, business and culture. ⚽👗
From footballers competing at the TotalEnergies CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations to entrepreneurs like Shamyra Moodley, who turned fabric scraps into a fashion brand reaching global audiences.
The question isn't whether the potential exists.
It's whether we create the opportunities for it to grow.
Through our partnership with and Global Gateway investments across Africa, we're supporting the people to create lasting change.
Because when women rise, communities rise with them.

Russia has long sought to present itself as a reliable partner and a source of stability beyond the West. But as pressure grows, the gap between its promises and its actions is becoming harder to ignore.
For many governments, today the question is whether a partnership with Russia is still a strategic and future-proof choice. A relationship built on instability, broken commitments, and shrinking influence looks less like a strategic asset and more like a strategic liability.

Russia’s working-age male population is being eroded by low birthrates, high mortality, mass emigration and catastrophic battlefield losses of more than 1.3 million since 2022.

To fill the gap: 27,000 foreign recruits from 130 countries, many coerced or deceived. Russia must stop its war of aggression against Ukraine.

🇿🇦🤝🇪🇺 Parliamentarians strengthen the EU–South Africa Partnership.

This week, the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with South Africa concluded a landmark visit to South Africa with rich parliamentary dialogue, high-level meetings and field engagement.

🏛️ At the core of the visit was the 30th Inter-Parliamentary Meeting between the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa and the European Parliament — a milestone that reflects three decades of sustained democratic dialogue and shared values.

🌍 Meeting with the Presidential Climate Commission was an opportunity to discuss the partnership to further South Africa’s just energy transition, in line with our shared climate goals.

đź’Ş An exchange with COSATU highlighted the importance of social dialogue in ensuring that workers and communities are at the centre of economic transformation.

The visit concluded with a networking dinner with South African interlocutors, reinforcing the personal connections that underpin a strong and enduring bilateral partnership.

The EU and South Africa are committed to a strategic partnership built on democracy, the rule of law, sustainable development and mutual prosperity. This visit reaffirms that ours is a partnership for the future.
