SKILLS DEVELOPMENT | FUZE AVIATION ACADEMY
Addressing the opening of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering programme at Fuze Aviation Academy earlier this morning, Deputy Minister Dube-Ncube highlighted the Department’s investment in skills development through the National Skills Fund.
The Department has approved R95.9 million over 43 months to train 1,020 young people across KwaZulu-Natal.
Of these, 20 young people in uMgungundlovu are undertaking a three-year apprenticeship in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, working towards becoming qualified and licensed professionals. A further 1,000 learners are pursuing the Wheel Balancer qualification at NQF Level 3, with 300 based in Newcastle, 200 in Mooi River and 500 in Mpumza, Pietermaritzburg.
Recruited learners have been in training since August and receive monthly stipends, toolkits and protective equipment to support their learning journey.
The initiative aims to equip young people with practical, industry-relevant skills that can open pathways to employment and contribute to economic growth.
