Learners from Great North Academy visited the National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research (NISIR) for a study tour. Among the goals in the organizations strategic plan , under pillar one, is to Establish mentorship connections, through various events among learners, whose objective is to inculcate a passion for studying STEM among learners. A total of 80 learners, ranging from Grade 4 to Grade 5, participated in the tour.

The Copperbelt University Students under the Department of Biomaterials Science and Technology, visited National Institute for Scientific and Industrial Research (NISIR) for a study tour. The group consisted of fourth-year students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Bioenergy Science. The purpose of the visit was to bridge the gap between classroom theory and practical, real-world applications within the students’ field of study. It exposed the students to actual workplace environments and enabled them to relate theoretical knowledge to practical applications. During the tour, the students visited the Materials Engineering Technical Services Centre . In addition, the visit provided opportunities for students to observe technologies, and professional practices. They also interacted with experts and gained a better understanding of potential career paths. At the biogas digester, the students experienced the entire process. This practical demonstration gave them a deeper understanding of bioenergy production and its applications. The students also visited the brickyard where coal briquets are produced.
