🇨🇿🇿🇲 Ambassador Jiří Kyrian visited the 98th Agricultural and Commercial Show, held under the theme of “Fostering Trade and Investment.”

During his visit, he stopped by the stands of VVS Zambia, a Czech company providing feed additives, premixes and livestock nutrition expertise to farmers across Zambia,🐄🌱and
attended the presentation of the SLIM Project, currently the flagship project of Czech development cooperation in Zambia, developed in cooperation with Ministry of Green Economy and Environment - Zambia and Ministry of Ministry of Technology and Science - Zambia, supporting sustainable agriculture and rural livelihoods. 🤝🌍

The Ambassador also visited Charitas, the implementing partner of Czech development cooperation projects in Zambia.

🇨🇿🤝🇿🇲 A great visit to the Czech-funded project in Kash*tu, implemented by the Friends of New Renato Society with support from the UNDP Challenge Fund.

It was great to see graduates of brickmaking and construction training from 2023 now building for their own community. 🏡

Using innovative unburnt LEGO-style bricks, they are constructing honey production and tailoring workshops, while improving sanitation through system that produce organic fertiliser for local farming. 🍯 🧵 🧑‍🌾

This year, more than 20 Czech volunteers will join the project in Kash*tu to learn, work alongside the community, and experience Zambia’s hospitality.

Sometimes the best way to strengthen the team spirit is to share a meal the local way!

On 15 July 2026, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Lusaka unveiled a commemorative plaque dedicated to Jára Cimrman — a beloved fictional Czech polymath, inventor, explorer, playwright and universal genius.

Created by Czech writers Zdeněk Svěrák and Ladislav Smoljak, Jára Cimrman has become a unique part of Czech culture and humour. He is celebrated for his “remarkable” contributions to almost every field imaginable — and, according to Czech tradition, he may have even left his trace in Zambia.

The unveiling was attended by around 60 guests, including members of the diplomatic corps in Lusaka, Czech compatriots and friends of Czechia.

The plaque, together with a certificate signed by Zdeněk Svěrák and an information panel, is now displayed in the library of the Czech Embassy in Lusaka.

This special initiative was made possible thanks to the civic engagement of Mr Petr Jenikovský and the OZE collective, who helped bring this piece of Czech theatre, imagination and humour to Zambia.

🏗️🇨🇿 Progress check from Malawi, Fanuel, Mchinji District! 🇨🇿🤝🇲🇼

Czech Aid is supporting the construction of a new maternity wing, implemented by International Humanity from the Czech Republic together with its local partner.

The construction is moving forward well and the new wing will soon also be equipped. ✅

The project also builds on cooperation with the University of Ostrava, which has been deploying medical volunteers to Malawi for mutually beneficial professional and knowledge exchanges. 🩺
