Strong partnerships are essential to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) 🤰🏾and promoting gender equality 👥.

Sweden's long-standing partnership with UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, helps to expand access to sexual and reproductive health services, including maternal health and family planning services, to prevent and respond to gender-based violence, and to deliver assistance in humanitarian crises.

In 2025, Sweden 🇸🇪 was the fourth largest bilateral donor to UNFPA. Together, we are contributing to stronger health systems and supporting rights, choices and well-being of women, girls and young people in more than 150 countries.🤝🌍

"Today’s launch is much more than the publication of a technical document. It is a commitment to a future in which environmental stewardship, responsible resource management, and sustainable development are integral parts of Zambia’s mining sector" said Ambassador Hallenborg at the official launch of the Mine Closure Plan Guidelines for Zambia last week. ⛏♻️

The guidelines have been developed by the Mineral Regulation Commission (MRC) with the purpose to provide a comprehensive national framework for the preparation, implementation, review and regulation of Mine Closure Plans throughout the lifecycle of mining projects and related industries in Zambia.

The ZAMNEX Programme, with the purpose to strengthen Zambian mining governance in the nexus of environment, human rights, and climate is an initiative supported by the Government of Zambia 🇿🇲 and Sweden 🇸🇪 has played a significant role in developing and strengthening the guidelines by providing technical expertise, stakeholder engagement, international benchmarking, and institutional capacity building.
