Meet our new intern

Hi everyone! My name is Fridah Phiri and I’ve just started my traineeship at the European Union Delegation to Zambia 🇿🇲 in Lusaka, working in the Political, Press and Information Section.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Public Relations from Cavendish University and I’m excited to put my academic knowledge into practice.

Over the coming months, I’ll be supporting the Delegation’s work on political reporting, communications, and public diplomacy.

I’m really looking forward to this opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to the EU’s engagement with Zambia. Grateful for the chance to learn and work with such a dedicated team!

This week, at the 2026 Alternative Mining Indaba, we discussed with the civil society how a minerals sector that is accountable, transparent, inclusive and socially responsible delivers real and lasting benefits for communities. Accountability translates into better livelihoods, greater community resilience and shared value from Zambia’s mineral wealth. EU partners with organisations like HIVOS to bring that positive change.

Congratulations to Eng. Suzanna Chulu, Founder of Tisuka Group, on winning an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. 🎉

This September, Suzanna will begin her MSc in Renewable Energy and Sustainable Construction under the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programme, studying across five top universities in Europe:

📍 University of A Coruña, Spain
📍 University of Minho, Portugal

An Energy Systems Engineer and changemaker, Suzanna has already impacted over 1,000 children through STEM education, vocational training and menstrual health support through Tisuka Group and Tisuka Foundation.

A proud moment as 10 talented Zambian students prepare to begin their Erasmus+ journey to universities across Europe. Ahead of their departure, EMA Zambia - Erasmus Mundus Association Zambia hosted a pre-departure orientation attended by EU Ambassador Karolina Stasiak, Ministry of Education, ASAF and Oceans Network.

This is more than a scholarship, it is a life-changing journey of learning, growth, and new opportunities.
