Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

Take another look through your What & When for Families guide to explore age-appropriate activities and learning ideas you can try together.

💛 Sometimes the best learning resource is the one you already have at home.

This morning we had Wilbur’s Wildlife come to our centre for an incursion! The children were so excited to meet, pat and hold the friendly animals which included a sand goanna, a frilled lizard, a bearded dragon, a spotted python, a green tree frog, stick insects, a turtle, a bush-tailed bettong and a ringtail possum.

The children loved listening to facts about each animal and asked lots of questions. It was such a great experience and opportunity to develop confidence, empathy, and respect for animals through real life experience.

The children are loving the new yard! With the sunshine starting to come out and Spring on its way, it’s been lovely weather! There’s still a chill in the air but the sunshine is warm in the middle of the day!

This morning the children enjoyed some painting in the outdoors! We explored colours, shapes and open ended creativity while painting on the easels.

Today the Nursery children enjoyed some sunshine and a beautiful sensory oat tray to explore colours of the rainbow. The children were touching, scooping, pouring, transporting the oats into wooden vessels!! They enjoyed this for a long time!

The experience supports sensory development, fine-motor coordination, communication, early colour recognition, and social learning in a fun, interactive way!
