๐Ÿ”ฅ August Recap ๐Ÿ”ฅ

TRAINING
Buronga Fire Brigade started off this month with a training session around internal fire fighting and the use of Breathing Apparatus.
During this training session, we filled our station full of smoke, to simulate a structure fire. Crews got to utilise their skills and equipment to be able to carry out the objective of rescue tasks and ventilation.
As you can see in the photos attached, smoke filled rooms are difficult to see in, with minimal vision being one of our major challenges. With the assistance from our TIC (thermal imaging camera) we were able to see objects surrounding us.

CALL-OUTS
This month, we were paged to a total of 4 jobs, which included one trip to assist local CFA crews with an interagency grass and scrub. ๐Ÿš’

EXTRAS
Buronga, along with other RFS brigades were also invited to attend an interagency training over the weekend with CFA (Victoria) and CFS (South Australia)
This included lots of activities to prepare all fire crews for the upcoming fire season.
Thanks CFA Sunraysia Group, it was a pleasure to work along side you. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿ”ดโšช๏ธ Interagency Training โšช๏ธ๐ŸŸ

Recently, Buronga RFS had the privilege of being able to work along side SES Mildura Unit in an interagency training night.

We were invited to undergo real-to-life training with a simulation of a two vehicle MVA (motor vehicle accident).
During this training, both agencies got to see the procedures we take when real life incidents happen.

This training helped strengthen both agencies ability to be able to work simultaneously within our communities when they need us the most.

Thanks again SES Mildura Unit, we enjoyed our time working with you! ๐ŸŒŸ

Phones, laptops, e-bike batteries. They all generate heat while charging.

Charging on a bed, doona or pillow traps that heat against fabric. Lithium-ion fires can start fast.

Charge on a hard, flat surface. Keep batteries off bedding. Be fire safe this winter.

Residents are advised to expect increased traffic conditions this June long weekend due to the Wentworth Flood Rally (70 Years on). The three day event will see over 100 historical tractors and support vehicles using main and secondary roads in the cross-border region.

On Friday 5 June, the rally will depart Red Cliffs at 9:00am and travel through main and secondary roads between Red Cliffs and Yelta. The rally will cross the Murray River at Yelta using the Abbotsford Bridge, continuing to the end destination of the Wentworth Showgrounds via the Silver City Highway and secondary roads by 4:00pm. The Abbotsford Bridge located at the river border of Yelta and Curlwaa will experience delays throughout this period.

On Saturday 6 June and Sunday 7 June, expect delays in the Wentworth township and surrounding secondary roads between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm.

Motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time, exercise patience, and use caution around slow-moving vehicles.

Other temporary delays may occur along the travel routes, including town centres. Please follow the directions of traffic management and slow-moving signage.

Event organisers thank the community for their cooperation and support in helping make the rally a safe and enjoyable occasion for all participants and spectators.
