The 26TEN Glenorchy Community of Practice works collaboratively to support learning, literacy, numeracy and digital skills development in the broader Glenorchy community. Membership of the Community of Practice represents a wide range of fields, backgrounds, views and expertise. Membership is open to individuals, businesses and organisations with an interest in adult literacy and lifelong learning – please get in touch if you would like to join!
Our members include: Glenorchy City Council Glenorchy Library 26TEN - Tasmania's campaign for adult literacy Glenorchy Jobs Hub Nyrstar Australia - Hobart Metro Tasmania Bucaan Community House Chigwell Child and Family Learning Centre National Joblink Chigwell House, Tasmanian Health Service, Vicinity Centres Work and Training Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania Multicultural Council of Tasmania Friends of Zafira Troublesmiths Andrew Walker Constructions, Eureka Clubhouse (Colony 47) and APM Employment Services

Nyrstar Hobart is really proud to be a member of 26TEN - Tasmania's campaign for adult literacy - a growing network of organisations and individuals working hard together to improve adult literacy and numeracy in Tasmania.

It might astonish you to know this, but almost one in two Tasmanian adults has difficulty with everyday literacy tasks such as filling in forms, paying bills, following instructions and reading to their children.

Yesterday we were pleased to host Glenorchy’s 26TEN Community of Practice May meeting at our Hobart Zinc Works. Next week we’ll welcome 26TEN onsite again to roll out Adult Literacy Awareness Workshops for our Team Leaders so they can learn how to help our personnel access the tools and resources to improve their skills.

This Tasmania Reads Week why not notice all the reading that goes on in our lives? 26TEN will be highlighting everyday reading - at bus stops, bedtimes, supermarkets, on cereal packets , billboards and more.
