πŸ“Mary Kathleen Mine, near Mount Isa, Queensland

Have you ever seen an abandoned mine site like this? πŸ‘€

Hidden in the Queensland outback are the remains of Mary Kathleen, a former uranium mining town that was abandoned in the 1980s. This place is so cool!!

Today, the ruins and huge open-cut mine sit surrounded by rugged red outback landscapes β€” and you can actually camp here! πŸ•οΈ Making it one of the most unusual places we've visited in Queensland.

We’ve put together a complete guide with everything you need, plus a FREE MAP!

πŸ‘‡ Read the full guide β€” link in the comments.

Put this on your bucket list!!!!

We were lucky enough to have a 2 day Cabochon Cutting Course.

We would like to extend our sincere Thank you to Paul Sabolta for travelling from Sydney to teach us the correct procedure of cutting cabochons and teaching us basic opal cutting.
We have all learnt so much!
Paul is an amazing teacher, he explained the procedures in terms we all understood and spent ample time with each and every one of us. We hope you enjoyed your time at our club Paul.

Thankyou to Gem & Lapidary Council of New South Wales Inc

Also a big thank you to Keith Barlow for donating opal potch for us to learn with.

Happy cutting βš’οΈπŸ’Ž
