28/05/2026

Behind every great swim lesson at the Clarence Regional Aquatic Centre is a dedicated instructor. Today, we’re introducing Kerry, one of our fantastic Learn to Swim teachers who brings a wealth of patience and encouragement to the pool deck.

Kerry’s favourite part of teaching is seeing her students reach those early milestones:

"It’s when they realise they can swim, or when they achieve something simple like a rocket or blowing bubbles. The smile and the 'I did it!' is the absolute best part."

Her path to swim teaching started while she was training for triathlons and working busy hours as a disability support worker. Loving the water and wanting to encourage others, taking on casual swim shifts felt like a perfect fit.

For students who are feeling a bit nervous about starting out, Kerry’s approach is simple and reassuring:

"Go gently, gently. Provide lots of reassurance and relate it back to a bath or the shower, water they are already familiar with at home."

Kerry’s care and support are helping our local kids build vital and practical water skills every day.

Want to join our team or get your family started? We are always looking for great people to join our staff, and love welcoming new families to our swim school!
