Crew from 306, 307 & local RFS crew are responding to a grass fire near the intersection of Swallow & Lilypool Roads, South Grafton.

Today has seen a number of fires ignite in the area. Multiple crew have been working across the Clarence Valley in hot and gusty weather to bring these fires under control.

Very warm weather is expected over the coming days, which brings with it a higher potential of bushfires.

Check out https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/ for all things bushfire. Including bushfire ratings for the next few days (3/9/26 is high) and preparing your property for the bushfire season.

Stay up to date with alerts and warnings so you know what you should do.

ADVICE means a fire has started. There is no immediate danger. Stay up to date in case the situation changes.

WATCH AND ACT means there is a heightened level of threat. Conditions are changing and you need to start taking action to protect you and your family.

EMERGENCY WARNING is the highest level of alert. You may be in danger and need to take action immediately. Any delay puts your life at risk.

Update 17:24 - Fire extinguished. Firefighters continue to work on hotspots externally due to the risk of structural collapse. Unfortunately the home has been completely destroyed in the blaze.

Update 16:50 - grass fire located, no structure fire found. Sometimes these things happen, where a grass or cane fire is mistaken for something else - it’s always a relief that it’s not a home.

306 CP & HT are headed to Lawrence along with multiple additional emergency services with reports of a structure fire in Stuart Lane. More information as it comes to hand.

Update - The fire has now been extinguished and the site has been rendered safe. The fire was contained to one building. Firefighting crew from 306, Fire and Rescue NSW South Grafton 307, NSW RFS - Grafton City Rural Fire Brigade & Trenayr Rural Fire Brigade - NSW RFS were supported by Coffs-Clarence Police District and NSW Ambulance. Thanks also to our community members for the additional footage.

Firefighters and police are currently attending a building fire across from the Jacaranda Park in Prince Street Grafton. There is a huge amount of traffic in the area - please chose to avoid the area if you can or slow down & follow directions.

This weekend marks some special milestones for 2 of our crew. 14 years service for Will & 10 years for Naomi. Both incredibly capable firefighters, but on top of that, they’re just great all round humans. Congratulations to you both!
