On Friday night I had the privilege to attend the women’s legal service - Justice for her, Dinner for change. I had the honour to be on a panel with two very incredible people, talk about my mum and a little on her story and the campaign launch Jacqui’s Law.

The conversations that flowed after our segment was amazing, The absolute love and support for Jacqui’s Law and how so many people could see how clearly this is needed to protect women who’s abuser uses their car to threaten or intimidate them.

My mum means the world to me and even in her death she continues to be my inspiration and push forward when I need it most. She should still be here today…Because of her we will get a Jacqui’s Law. Her story will be the reason cars are treated with the same severity level as a firearm. This is just the beginning of my push, I won’t accept anything less then what I am asking for.

Mum keep being my guiding light- know I am doing everything down here to keep your memory alive. You are the reason I do what I do💜🫶🏻

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I find myself remembering each and every Mother’s Day I did get with you. The excitement in school as each hand made gift was wrapped and walking home with what felt like the worlds biggest secret in my back pack, hoping and wishing on every star that my gift would show you just how much you meant to me. I would give anything in this world to have one more Mother’s Day with you 💜

We will be at newnorfolk market today!

Brave the cold and come have a chat and hear more about our projects 💜

We are excited to be visiting New Norfolk Market on Saturday. We have a stall site and hope to get some feedback for a potential surviving to thriving peer connect group for women who have experienced abuse that we are hoping to set up in the Derwent Valley.

Today is our 4th Easter without our mum, each year looks a little different and each year I try to set myself one goal to help get through this day. This years goal, to enjoy the sunshine and eat as many chocolates as my heart desires 🐣

To our mum, Happy heavenly Easter to the biggest chocolate addict to have walked this earth. Thank you for making our childhood memories so special, I just know we will hold these memories so close to our hearts and carry on the traditions you set with our own families someday. Wherever you are we hope the chocolates are unlimited and you always remember just how loved you are. We miss you mum 💜

The last three years I have experienced many emotions and feelings surrounding the murder of my mum. One that isn’t typically discussed enough is feeling so angry all the time. The first 3-4 months even up to the 1 year mark, I experienced anger towards my mum. I was angry that she made a decision on the 12/03/23 to get in the exact car that would kill her barely 12 hours later. Driven by a man who told her he loved her.

James Austin used that car on multiple occasions to scare, threaten and intimidate my mother. He had chased her down native corners road SWERVING at her months before her murder. Many perpetrators who use vehicles as weapons have a history of using their cars to abuse their partners and none of this evidence is ever used in the court case to prove MURDER. You will only ever see a manslaughter conviction or even less such as reckless driving. Cars are weapons and it is time they are treated as such. It is time for Jacqui’s Law, she mattered. 🤍

Mum I am so ready to kick this fight up a notch 💪🏻

Would give anything in this world to relive my teenagers years one more time with the knowledge I have now, Pain of losing a parent is real, pain of having your loved one murdered is a level of pain that eats you alive day in and day out. You are missed deeply mum, Jacqui Purton mattered🤍
