What if being alone isnโ€™t something to fix - but something to embrace?

Join us for an inspiring conversation with Dr Marny Lishman - Doctor of Psychology, therapist, mindset coach and familiar face on Sunrise, Today Extra and Nine News Perth - as she challenges the โ€œfix your single statusโ€ narrative in her powerful new book, "Only You: The Unexpected Gift of Being Alone".

๐Ÿ“… Tuesday 16 June, 6-7:30pm
๐Ÿ“ Joondalup Library
๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Tickets $8. Book and pay online at https://ow.ly/Sm6A50Z4YIG

In a world where finding โ€œthe oneโ€ often takes centre stage, Dr Lishman invites us to rethink the most important relationship of all: the one we have with ourselves. Drawing on evidence-based strategies, she explores how solitude can become a catalyst for growth, resilience and fulfilment, not something to fear.

With loneliness now recognised as a growing global issue, this timely and thought-provoking event offers a fresh perspective on connection, independence and wellbeing.

Come along and discover the unexpected gift of being alone ๐Ÿ’›

Picture Joondalup - Dot Parin

Dorothy (Dot) Parin (nee Minister) was born on 21 November 1939 in Romford, Essex, UK. Due to her fatherโ€™s occupation in the British Army, Indian Army and later with the United Nations, Dorothy attended various schools across a number of different countries.

She met John Parin in Sweden and they were married in England in 1963. They lived and worked in Sweden until 1968 at which time they moved to Australia and resettled with Johnโ€™s family at Parin Park homestead, located at the corner of Wanneroo Road and Napier Road (now Canham Way, Greenwood).

They had three children, Steve, Maureen and Robert. Dorothy taught English to adult migrants in Wanneroo. Her passion and efforts were strongly supported by John who understood firsthand the difficulties faced by new migrants.
