Aviation is an ever growing, very important part of firefighting in NSW, and our members dedicate some serious hours in training to ensure we're ready when the time comes for us to help our communities.
Recently, one of our very own members attended the NSW RFS Air Attack Supervisor course, held over a week in Dubbo, Learning new skills like Airspace Management and Aviation fire management skills.
How many different types of aircraft can you spot? 👀

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the strength, dedication and compassion of mums everywhere, but especially those in our family.

Across the state, thousands of mothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-law, stepmothers and aunties give their time to help protect their communities. Whether they're on the frontline or supporting behind the scenes their contributions are extraordinary.

Today, we thank them for all they do, not just as RFS members, but as leaders and role models in our brigades and communities.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the tragedy that occurred overnight in Ballina.

While we may not live near the coast in Llandilo, First responders never leave home thinking they won't come back.

Our thoughts are with the Marine Rescue Ballina unit and the families, friends, and colleagues of the two members who tragically lost their lives while attempting to rescue others.
Their courage and selflessness will not be forgotten. 💙💛

🔥NOTICE OF PROPOSED HAZARD REDUCTION

Please be advised that crews from NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) are intending to undertake Hazard Reduction (HR) burning, weather permitting, at the following location this week.

Location - Londonderry Road & Whitegates Road, Londonderry

Day- Friday 24th April

This hazard reduction burn is approximately 29.81ha in size.

As the prescribed burn will generate smoke, hot embers and heat, it is important that you consider the following:
• Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes;
• Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns;
• Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage;
• Remove washing from clotheslines;
• Ensure pets have a protected area;
• If you are driving a vehicle, slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on; and
• If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities. If smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice

For health information relating to smoke from bush fires and hazard reduction burning, visit the NSW Health website or Asthma Australia
You can also obtain additional information on prescribed burning and property preparedness by accessing the NSW Rural Fire Service website at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au or download the hazards near me app.

Llandilo Rural Fire Brigade Celebrates 75 Years of Service

This weekend, we proudly marked 75 years of the Llandilo Rural Fire Brigade serving and protecting our community held at The Log Cabin Hotel

Since 11 April 1951, generations of dedicated volunteers have stood shoulder to shoulder through fires, floods and emergencies always ready to answer the call. From humble beginnings to the strong and committed brigade we are today, this milestone reflects the courage, resilience and camaraderie that define our members, past and present.

We take this opportunity to honour those who came before us, thank those who continue to serve, and to recognise the families, supporters and community who stand beside us every step of the way.

We extend our sincere thanks to our event sponsors:
NSW RFSA
Retriever Towing - Sydney Pty Ltd
ITR Pacific
Bendigo Bank
The Henry Sports Club
Lambys Mechanical

Here’s to 75 years of service and many more to come 🚒
