🌾 AI doesn’t know your paddocks.

🤖 Artificial intelligence tools can be useful for finding general information about farming, w**ds, livestock or soil health.

But they don’t know your property, your soil type, your rainfall patterns or the seasonal conditions you’re dealing with right now.

🌏 Advice that works in another country or even another region of Australia may not work on your land.

The NSW Government’s Local Land Services team live and work in the communities they support. They understand the local landscape and can help tailor advice to your property.

🧭 When you’re looking for answers about managing your land ask Local Land Services before you ask AI.

🌾For landholders with declining feed in their paddocks or storage, agistment can be an attractive option to avoid the hassle and expense of sourcing and providing supplementary feed on home properties

The decision to agist will be influenced by a range of factors and landholders are encouraged to do their due diligence prior to making any commitments 📊

In the haste to find good feed for hungry stock, producers often forget to consider potential biosecurity and animal welfare issues, such as exposure to unfamiliar diseases, parasites, plants and conditions while on agistment.

🚫 Not only can these affect animals while on agistment, but they can also potentially be transported back to the property of origin when stock return, causing ongoing issues

☎️ For more information on agistment considerations and managing your local seasonal conditions, contact NSW Government Local Land Services via 1300 795 299

Are your livestock fit to load? 🚚

Transporting livestock is more than just moving animals from A to B, it’s also about ensuring they arrive in good condition without harm or unnecessary stress.

How do you know if an animal is fit for the intended journey? Before loading, check that your animals:
🐑 can walk unassisted and bear weight on all 4 legs
🐄 have no visible injuries, illness or distress
👀 are not blind in both eyes
🐮 are not heavily pregnant or too young for transport
💧 have had access to water, and dry feed if pregnant or lactating.

As always, if in doubt, leave them out.

☎️ The NSW Government's Hunter Local Land Services District Veterinarians are available to provide animal health support and information - call us on 1300 795 299.
