Excellent work by Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW RFS - Riverina Zone firefighters who responded to this significant fire on Thursday morning.

The challenging conditions included intense heat, collapsing roof and access difficulties.

fire investigators attended the incident later that afternoon to work with NSW Police Force to attempt to determine a fire cause.

What is a Fire and Rescue NSW Safety Visit?

During your Safety Visit, we will attend your home and check that you have working smoke alarms, that they are in good working condition, and are installed in suitable areas.

If you do not have one, firefighters will install a long-life battery-powered smoke alarm as well as replace existing smoke alarm batteries all at no cost.

With your permission, firefighters will also ask you to show us around your home and property. This will allow us to give you personalised fire safety advice.

A safety visit can assist in helping you reduce the risk of an accidental fire in the home and safely escape it.

Fire and Rescue NSW were alerted to this fire shortly after 6am on Thursday.

On arrival they were confronted by a well advanced fire and despite their efforts the house was destroyed.

Even though this home was unoccupied, it is a timely reminder to ensure you have a working smoke alarm no matter where you reside, whether that’s a house, unit, caravan or even a motor home.
