Zhabdrung Kuchoe commemorates the parinirvana (passing into nirvana) of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the great unifier and spiritual architect of Bhutan. It is a deeply sacred day to honor the visionary who established Bhutanโ€™s dual system of governance and laid the foundations of the nationโ€™s identity, culture, and spiritual heritage.

Observed with prayers, butter lamp offerings, and religious ceremonies in monasteries and dzongs across Bhutan, the day is a time for reflection, gratitude, and reverence. It reminds Bhutanese people of the enduring legacy of unity, compassion, and wisdom left by the Zhabdrung, whose influence continues to guide the kingdom today.

We pay homage not only to a great leader, but to the very spirit of the nation.

Bhutan won the โ€œDestination of the Year - Earthly Experiencesโ€ for Bhutanโ€™s commitment to authentic, meaningful, and regenerative travel recognising the countryโ€™s unique positioning as a values-led destination offering meaningful and immersive travel experiences, where travel reconnects visitors to the essence of the Earth itself.

According to a news release, being named Destination of the Year โ€“ Earthly Experiences affirms Bhutanโ€™s position as a global leader in purposeful and regenerative tourism, where nature is not a backdrop, but a sacred partner.

In addition, the โ€˜P ATWA Gold Award โ€“ Ecological Tourism (Himalayan Region)โ€™ was conferred upon Damcho Rinzin, the Director of the Department of Tourism, Bhutan, for championing Bhutan as a role model for regenerative, ecological, and sustainable travel. It underscores his dedication and personal contribution to promoting environmentally conscious travel and ecological stewardship while setting a standard for destinations around the world.

Thank you for visiting Bhutan with Bhutan Mind Vacation Tours and for being such wonderful guests.

Most travelers from India spend an average of five to seven days in Bhutan, but this couple chose a different path. They stayed for two full weeks, taking the time to explore the unseen, quieter side of Bhutan, beyond the usual routes. Their curiosity, patience, and respect for the country truly set them apart.

We hope you returned home with countless memories, meaningful experiences, and a deeper connection to Bhutan that will stay with you for a lifetime.

P.S. I met them straight after returning from a motorcycle trip, messy, dusty, and with no time to change. Thankfully, they liked the authenticity just as much as the journey:)

For a while, we were all a little lost in the flow of the show, yet as it unfolded, it became a deeply emotional moment for everyone.

As the journey came to an end and our guests prepared to depart Bhutan, the atmosphere was filled with quiet reflection and heartfelt gratitude. What began as a tour had transformed into shared memories, meaningful connections, and moments that would stay long after the journey ended.

Departures were not just farewells, but gentle promises to carry Bhutanโ€™s serenity, warmth, and spirit back home, and perhaps, to one day return.
