COMPLETE FIRE BAN REMINDER

The Robson Fire Department would like to remind everyone we are currently under a complete fire ban. This means ALL open burning and campfires are strictly prohibited.

Please do your part. A fire ban is in place for a reason. With dry conditions, even a small campfire can quickly become an uncontrolled wildfire, putting our homes, families, firefighters, and community at risk.

If you see an illegal fire, please report it. Let’s all do our part to keep Robson and the surrounding communities safe!

To report a wildfire, a campfire, or an open burning violation in British Columbia, call 1-800-663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cell phone. You can also submit details and photos directly through the free BC Wildfire Service App. For structural or immediate life-threatening property fires, call 9-1-1.

Given the scope and scale of wildfires currently burning in B.C., and to further protect public safety, recreational off-road vehicle use will be prohibited on Crown land in the Kamloops and Southeast Fire Centres, as well as parts of the Cariboo and Coastal Fire Centres. This prohibition is effective immediately, as of 12 p.m. (noon) on August 10, 2026.

Effective at 12 .p.m. (noon) Pacific Time on Thursday, July 23, 2026, Category 1 campfire will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre.

A Category 1 campfire refers to any fire that burns:
- No larger than 0.5 metres in height and 0.5 metres in width
- Used for recreational purposes or by a First Nation for ceremonial purposes

Also prohibited are the following equipment and activities:
- Air curtain burners
- Carbonizers
- Fireworks, as defined in the Fireworks Act of BC
- Binary exploding targets
- Burn barrels or burn cages of any size or description
- Controlled air incinerators
- Sky lanterns
- Wood fired hot tubs, wood fired pizza ovens, and other wood fired devices unless vented through a structure that has a flue and is incorporated in a building

This prohibition does not include the use of outdoor stoves. As per the Wildfire Regulation, an outdoor stove is a CSA-rated or ULC-rated device used outdoors for cooking, heat or ambiance that burns charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel or gaseous fuel and has a flame height that is less than 15 cm tall. Effective at 12 .p.m. (noon) Pacific Time on Friday, July 10, 2026, Category 2 open fire will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre.

A Category 2 open fire refers to any fire that burns:
- Material in one pile not exceeding two metres in height and three metres in width
- Material concurrently in two piles each not exceeding two metres in height and three metres in width
- Stubble or grass over an area that does not exceed 0.2 hectares

Also prohibited are the following equipment and activities:
- Air curtain burners
- Carbonizers
- Fireworks, as defined in the Fireworks Act of BC
- Binary Exploding Targets
- Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description
- Controlled air incinerators

🚨 Exciting News from Robson Volunteer Fire Department 🚨

After years of training, preparation, and tireless dedication from our members, Auto Extrication has officially been added to Robson Volunteer Fire Department’s run card.

RVFD will now be providing auto extrication services for Area J, including Robson, Brilliant, and Pass Creek, as well as providing mutual aid assistance to Ootischenia when needed.

This addition marks an important step forward for our department and community, helping us better serve residents and respond more effectively during motor vehicle incidents.

As we prepare for this change, we’d also like to remind the public to please slow down and move over when you see emergency responders working on our roadways. Keeping first responders safe allows us to continue helping others safely and efficiently.

A big thankyou to Ernies Used Auto Parts for providing vehicles and a safe environment to use for our practice scenarios and supporting the hands on experience

What a great Easter in Robson 🐰

Thank you to everyone who came out and made our Easter event such a success.
It was so much fun seeing the kids excitement, bikes all decorated, spraying the fire hose, checking out the equipment, and having something to eat.

Most of all, it was a chance to spend time together as a community, which is what the day is really about.

A HUGE thank you to our local sponsors and their donations for helping make it all possible, and to the Easter Bunny for taking time out of a busy day to stop by!

We appreciate the continued support from this community. We love Robson!
