Celebrating the International Day of Play!
On June 11, communities around the world will celebrate the International Day of Play — a global day recognizing the powerful role play has in every child’s healthy development and well-being.

This year’s theme, “Protect Play, Protect Childhood,” reminds us that play is not just fun — it is essential. Through play, children build relationships, develop resilience, strengthen communication and problem-solving skills, and lay the foundation for lifelong learning and early literacy.

Recognized by the United Nations, the International Day of Play also highlights every child’s right to play and the importance of creating safe, inclusive opportunities for children to explore, imagine, move, create, and connect.

To celebrate, beginning May 30, Huron County Children’s Services will launch a “12 Days of Play” social media campaign on the Huron EarlyON Facebook and Instagram pages. Each day will feature playful ideas, simple inspiration, and reminders of the many ways play supports healthy child development, strengthens families, and builds connected communities.

We invite you to join the fun by liking, sharing, and reposting the non-branded campaign posts on your own social media pages to help spread the message about the importance of play. Whether it’s building a fort, splashing in puddles, creating art, dancing, or reading together, every playful moment helps children learn, grow, and thrive.

Together, let’s celebrate the joy, connection, and learning that happens through play every day.
